The part of playing an unhappy vice president was a slam dunk as far as I was concerned. I love the idea of being powerful and powerless at the same time. It mirrors Hollywood in lots of ways and it’s lots of fun to play. It’s a phenomenal role.

I’m so happy! Especially for the show getting a nomination too. I must admit though, I was dead asleep when they were announced. I don’t wake up for these things; I feel like that jinxes it. Today I’m going to celebrate by getting my teeth cleaned. Oh yes, I’m splurging!

Louis-Dreyfus is presented with her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for her work in the category of Television. Her name is misspelled on the star, reading “Luis Dreyfus”. Friends Andy Ackerman, Larry David, and Jason Alexander attend the affair in support of Louis-Dreyfus.
The misspelling was so perfectly apt, a great metaphor for show business. Right when you think you’ve made it, you get knocked down. It’s an ideal metaphor for how this business works.

She is such a buffoon. People kind of dig her, and it makes them feel better about themselves. When you compare her to someone like Elaine, she is better-intentioned, which makes her idiocy tragic in a funny a way — which adds to the appeal.
