Even when people say ratings are coming down, that’s like, what, 20 million to 15 [million]? It’s still millions more than the others! They’re killing all the other shows on the network. I do think it’s a lot harder because there’s such a plethora of them. I don’t think it matters how you got here, it matters if you’re good enough to hang around
Summer tour announcement
Clarkson announces on Good Morning America she is going on tour for her album, Piece by Piece. The 36-city tour will begin July 11 in Hershey, PA., and end Sept. 20 in Camden, N.J. Clarkson will play two nights at New York’s Radio City Music Hall and at Wolf Trap National Park For The Performing Arts in Vienna, Va. Pentatonix and Eric Hutchinson will open the shows. At least four songs from the album will be played, including Tightrope.
Because of an element I’ve never done on tour, it makes sense to incorporate that song I’m not flying or on a tightrope there’s not that but it makes sense with that song and how it sounds on the record that it will fit into the show.

It took long enough. Man, I haven’t had a record for a while, so I’m excited it’s finally out and everybody is going to hear it. I had already actually recorded my vocals on the Maroon Five tour we did two years ago. So I had already recorded my part, and then I had asked John to do it by the time we started actually doing the album. He recorded it while he was on the road and then I kind of re-cut my vocals again just to kind of match him on certain parts. God, he’s the coolest and he’s also the most talented. It must be so nice being John Legend.

Clarkson reveals in an interview with BBC 1 Radio that she sometimes feels she has a difficult time getting other artists to collaborate with her.
I honestly would collaborate with a lot of people, but everyone usually says no. I’m not kidding you. I have legitimately asked several people that I’m not going to call out, and that’s cool, but I don’t know. I ask good people, I don’t want to sing with crap people, so I mean, I ask people who are great vocalists, but I’m not going to point out anyone. I have asked several people… Sometimes I feel like I have the plague, or leprosy, they’re like, ‘If you get too close…’ I don’t know.

Honestly, I thought out of all the people, my mom would have been bummed just because I’m her youngest daughter, but she was so excited. She’s like, “I don’t have to go get a dress. I don’t have to feel fat in something. I don’t have to take pictures.” So she understood. She’s on my schedule (too) so she sees how busy we are. But everybody was really supportive.
