Jackson, Presley divorce
Presley and Jackson divorce citing irreconcilable differences as the reason. Presley:
I do believe he loved me as much as he could love anyone and I loved him very much … I became very ill and emotionally/spiritually exhausted in my quest to save him from certain self-destructive behavior and from the awful vampires and leeches he would always manage to magnetize around him. I was in over my head while trying … He was an amazing person and I am lucky to have gotten as close to him as I did and to have had the many experiences and years that we had together
Jackson’s Los Angeles publicist, Lee Solters, confirms the separation saying in a statement that the couple had “mutually agreed to go their separate ways. However, they remain good friends.”
Jackson, Presley marry
Jackson marries Presley in De La Vega, Santo Domingo. The ceremony was private without any media present. The marriage is confirmed by Donald Trump at the Trump Tower in front of about 400 people who are waiting to see the couple. Presley:
My married name is Mrs. Lisa Marie Presley-Jackson. I am very much in love with Michael. I dedicate my life to being his wife. I understand and support him. We both look forward to raising a family and living a happy, healthy life together.
