Arrives in USA

schuchatA health care worker who had just returned from Saudi Arabia, is diagnosed with MERS. The patient began experiencing shortness of breath, coughing, and fever on April 27.  He was admitted to Community Hospital in Munster, Indiana, after first going to the emergency room there. He is currently isolated and in stable condition.  Dr. Anne Schuchat, Assistant Surgeon General with the U.S. Public Health Service said:

The virus poses a very low risk to the broader general public, and has not been shown to spread easily from person to person
