Hill is indicted by a DeKalb County, GA. Grand Jury. They return a 13-count indictment that includes aggravated assault, second-degree burglary, terroristic threats, false imprisonment, obstruction and theft by receiving stolen property. DeKalb police officials:
Hill held school employees hostage and fired at responding officers, who fired back.
Public defenders enter a plea of mental incompetence for Hill. Public Defender, Claudia Saari:
Hill has extremely low cognitive functioning and mental illness.
Hill, accused of opening fire in an Atlanta-area elementary school a year ago pleads guilty in a DeKalb County Superior Court to all 13 charges, including aggravated assault, and receives a sentence of 40 years with 20 to serve behind bars. His lawyers ask for a 30-year-sentence with 10 years in prison. Hill’s lawyer:
Mr. Hill’s only intention that day was to harm himself.
