Coster-Waldau appears as Ser Jaime Lannister in the fifth episode of the third season of Game of Thrones, Kissed By Fire. Gwendoline Christie plays Brienne of Tarth, a female soldier loyal to Lady Catelyn Stark. Michael McElhatton plays Roose Bolton, a northern lord who is allied to the Stark noble family. Jaime and Brienne are held captive by Roose at Harrenhal castle in the Riverlands in central Westeros, and the wound where Jaime’s right hand was amputated is treated. Roose informs Jaime that King’s Landing has come under attack but that twin his sister, Queen Regent Cersei Lannister, is safe. As the prisoners recover from their journey, Jaime explains to Brienne why he is known as the Kingslayer. He states that while serving in the kingsguard during the rebellion against Aerys Targaryen, known as the Mad King, Jaime was ordered to kill his own father, after which Aerys planned to burn the capital. To justify his action, Jaime states that noone would accept an order to kill their father and then stand by as many innocent people died.
