The Hong Kong police investigation into the murders is affected by suggestions Jutting has been receiving treatment for a mental illness since his early 20s. Investigators are working on the assumption that he had been being treated for schizophrenia, and may have stopped taking medication in recent months. He is being remanded for two weeks and the trial is suspended while psychiatric tests are done.
