Love Song performance
Bareilles performs Love Song on the Today show from her album Little Voice.
Bottle It Up
0 CommentsBareilles releases her second single Bottle It Up. The song is written by Bareilles and produced by Eric Rosse. The single is featured on her album Little Voice.
Before I had a record deal, I wrote that song about what it would be like to have a record deal, and the struggles of how do you become an artist who feels like they haven’t quote/unquote `sold out,’ and how do you stay true to your art and figure out how to make a living from it. The chorus says it all: “I do it for love.” Music – and particularly songwriting – for me is such a passion, it’s a very sacred thing for me.
Grammy nomination
Bareilles is the Grammy nominee for Best Pop Solo Performance for Brave.
I haven’t learned how to keep my cool about it. I was running around the hotel room and my hands were shaking.
Brave Enough: Live at the Variety Playhouse
0 CommentsBarflies releases her second concert recording on CD and DVD, Brave Enough: Live at the Variety Playhouse. The concert features 13 songs from Bareilles’ various records including her singles Love Song and Brave. Bareilles performed solo during this concert.
Just me. And my piano. And maybe a guitar. And some whiskey. And some jokes. Andy my songs.
Brave
0 CommentsBareilles releases her single Brave. The single is a collaboration between Bareilles and writer Jack Antonoff and comes from inspiration from a friend’s struggles in coming out.
Watching that process made me consider how much of ourselves we feel the need to hide from each other on a daily basis. It made me want to express support and encouragement for the idea of speaking out for your authentic self… whomever that may be.
Leaves The Sing-Off
0 CommentsBareilles announces that she is leaving The Sing-Off after only one season. Bareilles says she will be focusing on her own music and going on tour.
Woah. My tour sold out. Except for Toronto. This is not an April Fool's joke. But it would be an awesome one. Especially for Toronto.

Gonna Get Over You music video
0 CommentsBareilles releases her music video for her single Gonna Get Over You. The video was directed by Jonah Hill and was inspired by Grease and West Side Story.
The video was a a mash-up of Grease meets West Side Story meets a little market in East LA. Jonah and I both wanted it to be a combination of fantasy and reality. Silly, over the top moments that are anchored with authenticity.
Gonna Get Over You
0 CommentsBareilles releases her single Gonna Get Over You. This is the third and final single from her album Kaleidoscope Heart. The song is a collaboration between Bareilles and writer Sam Farrar.
I feel like my songs are like diary entries for me. So I usually write about things that have happened to me specifically or sometimes it can be someone who’s close to me. My sister went through a really bad breakup, but I got a couple songs out of that. Watching her be depressed was really inspiring to me. But I usually write about my own personal kind of journey.
Joins The Sing-Off
0 CommentsBareilles joins the judging panel of the television competition show The Sing-Off. She will replace former judge Nicole Scherzinger and will share the judging panel with singer Ben Folds.
I’ve been a big fan of the show and I love the fact that it’s highlighting a cappella music. I feel like it’s the one kind of show that I can hopefully add something to, in terms of having experience or some sort of expertise on it. I’m certainly not a total expert by any means, but I’m very passionate about it.
Uncharted music video
0 CommentsBareilles releases the music video for her single Uncharted. The video directed by Javier Dunn and Travis Schneider and the concept for the video came from a friend and co-worker of Bareilles’.
This video is about my journey as an artist who looks up to the people around them. This is about being a fan of people who take chances, who are fearless, who have integrity, and go off into the world saying yes to what’s around them. It’s filled with some of the people in my life who do that everyday (sic). They have impacted my world and are not only incredible artists, but great friends as well. They all worked this giant favor into their very busy lives and helped me out more than I can say.
Uncharted
0 CommentsBareilles releases her single Uncharted. The song is the second single off of her album Kaleidoscope Heart written by Bareilles and produced by Neal Avron.
(I) was really worried about stepping into the unknown and I didn’t know what to expect the second time around … and that afternoon, I sat down and wrote Uncharted.
Kaleidoscope Heart
0 CommentsThis time I took more risks. And I am a much more confident person now than I was when I went in to record the first record. I’m older than I was, obviously, and I just have so many more experiences under my belt. I wasn’t so scared this time around and I think that the music reflects that. I tried to write songs that I still was excited about the message but they felt a little more uplifting. I feel like the record reflects that in a way and it’s very autobiographical. It’s totally what I’ve been going through, being worried about change and what I’ve gone through in relationships and just as a human being.
King of Anything
0 CommentsBareilles releases her single King of Anything. The single was produced by Neal Avron and is featured on her album Kaleidoscope Heart.
King of Anything is sort of a “f*** you’ song.” I’ve had more unsolicited advice on my life than I care to mention, and this was how I dealt with it. It felt empowering to turn that frustration into music, especially a song that doesn’t even sound angry. That’s sort of what Love Song was as well. Apparently, I don’t get over things very quickly.
Little Voice
0 CommentsOn her success:
Everything has been slow and steady, which is perfect. It’s not too overwhelming. If I had been an overnight success, I probably would have pulled a Britney and ended up in the loony bin. The focus is still on the music, not me.
Love Song

They had encouraged me to keep writing, and I just wasn’t having any luck. …I started to get really insecure about it, and then I got really pissed off at myself for caring what anybody thought. … I went to a rehearsal space one day. I sat down and wrote something for me. And ‘Love Song’ basically wrote itself. It’s totally honest, and I’m very lucky the label liked it as well.
