Woodley is offered the lead role. Boone:

During our exhaustive search to find Hazel Grace Lancaster, I saw some stunning auditions by today’s finest young actresses. Over 250 girls read for the part, but it wasn’t until Shailene stepped in front of the camera that I truly saw Hazel for the first time.  It was like lightning striking.  I can’t wait for the rest of the world to see what I have.

Seacrest interviews Woodley during On Air With Ryan Seacrest what she wants for Christmas.

I would love a juicer for Christmas. I don’t have one right now. I have a vitamix which I use every single day, but it’s so much fiber. So I think a juicer would be good too.

shailene-woodley-asos-magazineWoodley appears on the cover of the June 2012 issue of ASOS magazine. She talks about not paying attention to fame, criticism on her Oscar dress, and looking towards being in movies.

Movies are where my heart is at. I love dark roles – roles that appear scary. Not in a horror film way, but like ‘Black Swan’ or ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.’ Films that take the audience on an emotional journey. And I would love to play Patti Smith in a film one day – I’m re-reading her autobiography, I’m obsessed with it.

shailene-woodley-malibu-magWoodley appears on the cover of the March 2012 issue of Malibu magazine. She talks about taking acting classes and dressing up.

No, I’m not a girlie girl at all. I never wear dresses. I’m always in either long, baggy skirts that I can still do ‘crisscross applesauce’ in, or blue jeans. I’m very lucky to work with a stylist who cares about fashion, because I don’t at all. And I’m very lucky to have a makeup artist and hair guy who are really good at what they do, because I would go to events with no makeup and no hair and in pajamas if I could.

LA Confidential feature

Woodley is featured in LA Confidential as one of the actors who made a difference during the year.

I love to act—the expression and the creation of it. But the day it becomes not fun, then I’ll quit. It’s only about giving me those butterflies, and if I don’t have those… It’s not about the glamour and the makeup and the dresses and the red carpets—for me, it’s about being on a film set, in front of a camera, and being able to portray myself as any given character.

Our population is so large, and there hasn’t been a company or an organization that has stepped up and provided organic food to people on a lower income level. So one of my goals in life is to start a giant organic, biodynamic farm and have it fun like a community, but sell the produce for less than conventional prices. I think the education is an important element for me too.

Woodley plays Alexandra King in the Alexander Payne adaptation of the novel by Kaui Hart Hemmings. As her father struggles to sell a land estate and save his fortune and her mother lies in a coma, the troubled 17-year-old comes to terms with her dysfunctional family.

George [Clooney] told me the night of that scene that the key to being drunk is to pretend like you’re not drunk. When you’re drunk and someone says, ‘Ha, you’re wasted,’ you say ‘I’m not drunk — I’m not even buzzed’ even though you’re belligerent.

TV Chick interview

Interview0 Comments

Woodley gives an interview to TV Chick about the way The Secret Life Of The American Teenager approaches sex:

Having been in high school three years ago, it’s definitely a big issue. Kids are having sex with other kids and not really paying attention to the consequences. So I think it’s important — whatever your decision is, if you decide to be sexually active that’s totally fine, just make sure you protect yourself and make sure you’re safe about it because if you do get an STD, you have it for the rest of your life. And if you have a child, you have that for the rest of your life as well.
