Shailene Woodley

Woodley discusses growing up and sex scenes in her upcoming movie White Bird in a Blizzard and talks about her recent appearance on a Paris equivalent of The Tonight Show to publicize the movie:

They showed a clip where my character is in the bathroom and I take my top off. It’s on public television and that’s the clip they showed. When they showed it I was expecting the audience to react, but they were like, ‘Whatever. It’s just boobs.’

Woodley is interviewed for the New York Times about her passion for the role in The Fault In Our Stars, being a child actress, and life in Hollywood:

Everyone says to me, ‘What does it feel like to be part of the Hollywood life now?’  And I want to say, ‘It’s fabricated.’ None of it’s real. We all go to these events. We put on makeup and clothes that aren’t ours. We give them back at the end of the night, and then we go home and burp the same garlic burps as everyone else. You still have to do your laundry, and your dishes are everywhere. It’s just life.”

Woodley tells NPR that she doesn’t analyze scripts or look for her characters’ motivation when playing a role:

I don’t really work that way. For me, it’s about being fully present and actively listening to every single thing that’s going on around me and reacting to it. Because I feel the second I premeditate something, it’s going to feel premeditated.

Woodley talks to TV Line about Secret Life, The Spectacular Now and the opportunity that The Descendants gave her to work with George Clooney.

That was a totally magical time in my life, and it changed a lot about who I am today. It was a dynamic experience which I feel so lucky to have had.

Woodley gives an interview to TV Chick about the way The Secret Life Of The American Teenager approaches sex:

Having been in high school three years ago, it’s definitely a big issue. Kids are having sex with other kids and not really paying attention to the consequences. So I think it’s important — whatever your decision is, if you decide to be sexually active that’s totally fine, just make sure you protect yourself and make sure you’re safe about it because if you do get an STD, you have it for the rest of your life. And if you have a child, you have that for the rest of your life as well.

Woodley is interviewed for Crushable about Secret Life and whether becoming famous has changed things:

I don’t put myself out there. I barely wear any makeup. I just feel like I’ve kind of taken on the responsibility of being a professional. It’s always awkward for me the whole fan situation, because I don’t know them and they don’t know me, so I want to engage in conversation, but then that’s always awkward too.  It’s a very interesting dynamic, but other than that life has just been the same.  I’ve stayed with the same friends and have the most amazing family ever, so I’ve been very lucky.

I grew now but I was like super-short growing up. I was always the runt and now I’m like towering over everyone. But my family – we all just have like fast metabolisms, so we’re all lanky. I’m always like “I’m too skinny, I can’t gain weight, even when I try.” I’d like to try to not let that get to me.
