Austin talks to Rolling Stone magazine about his new business endeavors and Sting’s WWE debut at Survivor Series.
The face-to-face with him and Triple H, they just let it build and build. Triple H tried to sell the big right hand, block, there’s the kick and the damage is done, then he hits his finish. I loved it. I’m a fan of good stuff inside the squared circle and it was a good story. The Authority had really built how they needed to win that night in a really long-winded promo by Stephanie McMahon and Triple H. They were setting the table for Sting. All of the guys in that match worked their asses off, and I really enjoyed the work between Seth Rollins and Dolph Ziggler as they went into the finish.

Austin talks about possibly returning to wrestle at Wrestlemania 32:
I’ll reserve my right to if I want to have another match down the road – say, like, Dallas, Texas is going to be (WrestleMania) 32. Now, 31 is right down the road from me. That could be doable, but I don’t see it happening. Now, Dallas, that could be very special going back to Texas for 32. They’re going to need a loaded card to fill that house. So, I’ll reserve my right. But, am I pushing, pandering, selling, promoting? Nothing.

I disagree with (scripting). I think the nature of a promo has to come from your heart and your guts and you have to mean everything that you’re saying. Now is the perfect time to go back to that formula.

I’d consider anything if the perfect situation or opportunity arose and it would be more than a million-dollar question. I don’t want to sit here and promote a match, sell a match or talk about making a comeback.

What I like about that guy (Cena) is his work ethic. He shows up. And he’s always got a smile on his face. Sometimes you’re hurt and sometimes you’re tired but Cena always has a smile on his face.

Basically all that is a verbal back and forth between two cats to draw money to make these people feel what we’re feeling and want to pay the money to buy that ticket.

My whole existence running up and down the road, making 15-20 dollars a night. When they told me they were sending me back to Texas. I thought I got fired. They said, “No… we’re gonna turn you heel and put you against Chris (Champion).” I was guaranteed 100 dollars per night. I thought I was making superstar money.

A guy had a commercial on TV; teach you how to be a pro wrestler. I always knew in the back of my mind that I was going to be a pro wrestler. My first college major was a business major because I was going to sell insurance with my dad. I figured that’d be the logical thing to do.

It’s always fun to think about what it would have been like if me and Goldberg had gotten into the ring, to see what would have happened if me and Hollywood Hogan got involved in serious matches, and not in a one-off match. It would have been fun to have worked with a guy like Ultimate Warrior, it would have been fun to do a bunch of matches with Randy Savage, or (Ric) Flair — I would have liked to work a high-profile series with him.

Bret goes to me, Hey man good match. I’ll work with you anytime. So, I guess he is the one that told the office, Hey, I can work with Austin. He kept watching my matches, and I was hand picked by Bret for his comeback, because that was his comeback. Man, it was a blast. I don’t refer to that match a whole lot because I do not think a lot of people just in general don’t remember that match, but if you are a wrestling fan you do remember that match, and I have watched that match just as much as the Wrestlemania XIII match, and some of the other matches that I have had that were my favorites.

Yeah, well there is a little truth to it, but I don’t know much to dwell on that much. Yeah, I think. The reaction from when I was at the announce table with Vince and Austin was in the ring and we had words back and forth, I know that the eruption was unbelievable, so. I could just see Vince going (imitating Vince and laughs) ah-ha-ha, he’s getting his fingers into something here, because the character Mr. Perfect and the Austin character, that would have been a clash and it still might be.
