Jerry Maguire

Cruise plays Jerry Maguire, and ambitious sports agent in this light comedy drama directed by Cameron Crowe. After writing a manifesto about how agents should treat their clients Maguire is fired from his agency. His assistant Dorothy, played by Renee Zellwegger, comes with him. He takes on Rod Tidwell, a football player who is very unhappy with his contract, played by Cuba Gooding, Jr. Cruise tries to get him placed on a major team while a romance with Dorothy blossoms.

I like watching sports, but I’m not interested in making a movie about sports. You could have taken this guy and put him in any field. I like the people in it. I like the relationship with the girl. There are so many levels to this.
