Dies at 67 in Los Angeles
Taylor dies age 67 at his Los Angeles area home from a terminal illness. The family releases a statement:
It is with love and gratitude that we sorrowfully announce that our darling, amazingly brilliant and dynamic, Meshach, the incredible father, husband, son and friend has begun his grand transition.
Supporters raise $22,000
A profile set up on YouCaring.com in support of Harris raises more than $22,000 for the Harris family. Heather McCullar, who set it up, says:
Please don’t listen to the media. It just upsets me to watch it. The family will speak when they can.
Death ‘consistent with homicide’
The Cobb County medical examiner’s office issues a statement after an autopsy is performed on Harris’s son, saying the child’s cause of death was:
consistent with hyperthermia and the investigative information suggests the manner of death is homicide.
The medical examiner will make an official ruling on the cause of death when the toxicology tests are completed.
Search warrants
According to search warrants from a Cobb County magistrate court, investigators seized a number of items from the Justin’s home: an iPhone 5, Hyundai car, home laptop computer, computer tower, a “Google chrome cast Internet searcher” and other electronic devices. The Cobb County Police Chief says:
The chain of events that occurred in this case does not point toward simple negligence, and evidence will be presented to support this allegation.
Cobb County Police say the purpose of the search warrants was to find blood, DNA, writings and photographs relating to child abuse, child neglect, homicide to children and cruelty to children.
Researched hot-car deaths
Harris acknowledges to police that he researched child deaths inside hot vehicles on the Internet. According to a sworn statement in the warrant from a police officer,
During an interview with Justin, he stated that he recently researched, through the Internet, child deaths inside vehicles and what temperature it needs to be for that to occur. Justin stated that he was fearful that this could happen.
Can’t attend funeral
Cobb County jail officials announce that Harris will not be allowed to attend his 22-month-old son’s funeral. Jail policy states that Harris must be kept locked up without bond.
We do not transport inmates to funeral services. That’s it. That’s our policy.
Out of tournament
Tiger Woods is out of 2014 Quicken Loans National Tournament Friday, June 27 after completes just two rounds. He missed the cut at Congressional after shooting 4-over 75 in 2nd round (+7 overall).
I came back four weeks earlier than I thought we could. I had no setbacks, no pain. I got my feel for playing tournament golf. I’m encouraged by what happened this week. My short game was off. I made a ton of simple little mistakes. I probably should have spent more time chipping than I did. The thing I was worried about the most was hitting driver. I hit it really well the last two days.
Flood rescue

Recalls 430,000 vehicles
General Motors announces four recalls of nearly 430,000 vehicles in the United States, involving the air bag inflators in Chevrolet Cruze sedans in the 2013-2014 model year. GM’s Chief Executive Mary Barra:
We’re going to continue to look at the data that we get, and we’re going to take the action that we need. If we find an issue, we’re going to deal with it.
Breast cancer diagnosis
Lunden is diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer, a rare and aggressive form. Two small tumors were discovered in her right breast by doctors during a precautionary ultrasound. Lunden tells CNN’s Dr. Sanjay Gupta,
I knew the minute the doctor walked in the office. You could just tell by her demeanor. She said, ‘you definitely have breast cancer.’ When I heard those words — it doesn’t make any difference if you’re a doctor — those are scary words and they’re shocking,
Lunden says she immediately consulted specialists and sought other opinions before starting with chemotherapy. Lunden told CNN that she decided to shave her hair before losing it to chemotherapy, and has decided on therapy aimed at reducing the size of a tumor with chemotherapy, a lumpectomy to remove the cancer, followed by radiation therapy.
Found dead, apparent suicide
Mayfield is found dead inside of his home in Ridgeland, Mississippi. Apparently a suicide, Mayfield died of a gunshot wound to the head. Ridgeland Police Chief:
Because all of the indications, it appears to be suicide, but we still got some things to look into. He left a suicide note, and we are verifying its validity.
Dies at 70
Womack dies age of 70 years old. Womack’s XL Recordings publicist says:
I am sadly able to confirm but I have no details at this time.

Cancer treatment
Martin has a radical hysterectomy performed at Nashville’s TriStar Centennial Medical Center as treatment for cervical cancer. The cancer is believed to be in the early states and no further treatment will be needed following the operation. Her rep says:
Joey is recovering really well and everyone is in great spirits. Both Joey and Rory are so humbled by the outpouring of love and support they’ve been shown over the past 24 hours. They know that God has a plan for everyone and they’re just taking the journey one day at a time.
