Announces run for president
Trump announces his candidacy for president at Trump Tower, New York. His introduced by his daughter, Ivanka.
We are going to make our country great again. I will be the greatest jobs president that God ever created.
They all said, a lot of the pundits on television, well, Donald will never run, and one of the main reasons is he’s private and he’s probably not as successful as everybody thinks. So I said to myself, you know, nobody is ever going to know unless I run because I’m really proud of my success.
Sadly the American dream is dead. But if I get elected president I will bring it back, bigger, and better, and stronger than ever before
I would do various things very quickly. I would repeal and replace the big lie, Obamacare. I would build a great wall, and nobody builds walls better than me believe me, and I’ll build them very inexpensively. I will build a great, great wall on our southern border, and I will have Mexico pay for that wall.
When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best; they’re not sending you. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people
Nobody would be tougher on ISIS than Donald Trump, nobody…I will stop Iran from getting nuclear weapons.
Our country needs a truly great leader. And we need a truly great leader now. We need a leader that wrote the art of the deal, we need a leader that can bring back our jobs, can bring back our manufacturing, can bring back our military, and take care of our vets
Poll: second place behind Bush
According to a CNN poll, Trump is now the second runner amongst Republican candidates. Jeb Bush leads with 19%, up from 13% in May. Trump follows at 12%, up from 3% before his announcement. Mike Huckabee (8%), Ben Carson (7%) and Rand Paul (7%) round out the top five. On the Democratic side, Hillary Clinton leads all other candidates by more than 40 points, with 57% of Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents behind her and 16% backing Vice President Joe Biden. Trump says the numbers are “representative of the response we are receiving from all over the country.”
I am committed to addressing the issues our country is facing and am confident my business mindset and common sense solutions are resonating with the American people. Politicians are all talk and no action and the American public is ready for a leader with a proven track record of success.
Endorses Trump
Rodman tweets support for Trump’s presidential campaign, Trump’s first major endorsement from a high-profile celebrity. Trump thanks him for his support.
@realDonaldTrump has been a great friend for many years. We don't need another politician, we need a businessman like Mr. Trump! Trump 2016

Beats Clinton in poll
A SurveyUSA poll says in a head-to-head contest Trump would beat Clinton, with 45 percent of the vote, compared to Clinton’s 40 percent. The poll also finds that 30 percent of respondents believe Trump will eventually be the Republican nominee, leading the field. Jeb Bush comes second, with 20 percent

Icahn endorses Trump for president, criticizing the “dysfunction that is going on both in Washington and the boardrooms of corporate America” and cites the U.S. Congress for failing to reform taxes or immigration. He backs Trump’s calls to strike tax deals to encourage corporations to bring back overseas profits and stay based in the U.S.; to end the carried interest tax discount for hedge fund and private-equity managers; and says the Federal Reserve is overdue in beginning to raise interest rates.
You have this movement toward a guy like Donald Trump, because you want someone that’s not beholden to an establishment. So we need a president that can move Congress and I think Donald Trump could do it. I disagree with him on certain issues, and certainly would talk to him more, but this is what this country needs — somebody to wake it up.
Endorses Trump
In an interview with BET, Mackie says he endorses Trump.
I would 100 percent want to run Trump’s campaign. 100 percent. I mean, first that’ll be the best party ever when he won, and second, Trump’s an easy sell… When you look at Trump, he’s an easy sell because you can sell him as the guy who worked his way up from nothing. And I think if you’re a ‘pull yourself up by your bootstraps’ candidate, people would identify with that…I’m on the bandwagon. I’m drinking the Kool-Aid.
Poll: Carson overtakes Trump nationally
According to a CBS News/New York Times national poll, Carson leads Trump 26 percent to 22 percent among likely Republican voters. Carson’s four-point lead is within the survey’s margin of error. Since August, when the same poll gave Carson 6%, his numbers have quadrupled. The rest of the GOP field is far behind. Far behind are Rubio (8%), Bush (7%) and Fiorina (7%). All other candidates are at 4% or less. 70% of Republican primary voters say they have not decided which candidate they will support.

In an interview with HuffPost Live, Tyson says he supports Trump.
He should be President of the United States. That’s what he should be. He should be President of the United States…[So he’s got your vote?] Hell, yeah. Big time…Why wouldn’t anybody like [him]? A guy that came from where he came from and doing what he’s doing and now this is where he’s at now. Know what that means? That doesn’t mean he’s a bad guy. Or that people don’t know what they’re doing. That means people are tired of what you’ve been doing. What we’ve been doing the last 20 years. Let’s try something new. We tried Obama, time for a change, so we gotta change. Let’s run America like a business. No colors matter. Whoever can do the job, gets the job.
Davi: Trump is John Wayne
In an editorial on Breitbart.com, Davi compares Trump to actor John Wayne.
I cannot sit back and listen to the media continually outright defame Donald Trump. I will not remain silent any longer. I am watching the pundits and media hosts continually bash Donald Trump and call him a liar over his claim that Muslims in New Jersey were cheering and celebrating over the Towers coming down…Trump is the only one who has continually challenged the media, and that now has rubbed off on other candidates. He has empowered others. The difference is in authenticity. Trump leads the pack and sets the agenda. The others follow…If Ronald Reagan was the Gary Cooper of politics, Trump is the John Wayne. So, pilgrim, I’d rather have a President Trump who tells it like it is than a deceiver who feeds us sugarcoated poison at bedtime, only to have us wake up dead.
Polls: Cruz leads Trump in Iowa

Trump wins the New Hampshire primary with 35.3% of the vote. John Kasich is second with 15.8, follwoed by Ted Cruz (11.7%), Jeb Bush (11%), and Marco Rubio (10.6%). On the democratic side, Bernie Sanders beats Hillary Clinton. Trump:
Congratulations to Bernie. We have to congratulate him, we may not like it. He wants to give away our country, folks. We’re not going to let it happen.
Wins AL, AK, GA, MA, TN, VT, VA primaries
Trump wins the Republican “Super Tuesday” primaries in Alabama (43%), Arkansas (33%), Georgia (39%), Massachusetts (49%), Tennessee, (39%), Vermont (33%), and Virginia (35%). Ted Cruz wins Alaska (36%, Trump 34%), Oklahoma (34%, Trump 28%), and Texas (44%, Trump 27%). Marco Rubio wins Minnesota (37%, Trump 21%). Speaking in Palm Beach, Florida, where his is flanked by Chris Christie, Trump congratulates Cruz and comments on Hillary Clinton’s wins.
The Democrats … they don’t have any energy. Their numbers are down. Our numbers are through the roof…I think if somebody is doing as well as I’m doing … I think it’s awfully hard to say that’s not the person we want to lead the party, right?..I don’t know that [Hillary’s] going to be allowed to run…We either have a country or we don’t. We have borders or we don’t have borders.
Endorses Trump
In an interview with Breitbart News, Voight says he endorses Trump for president.
I, Jon Voight, can say, without hesitation, that Donald is funny, playful, and colorful, but most of all, he is honest. When he decided to run for president, I know he did it with a true conviction to bring this country back to prosperity. He is the only one who can do it. No frills, no fuss, only candid truths. There are many Republicans fighting to keep him from winning the Republican nomination. You know why? Because he has no bull to sell, and everyone will discover the bull most politicians spew out is for their own causes and benefits. They never dreamed they would be losing control.
I am very disappointed at the talk show hosts, also spewing out lies and propaganda against Donald. Why, I wonder? The only thing I can think of is he represents a form of freedom none of them ever saw before, and they are bewildered about it, and frightened about it. I pray all Americans who have seen and felt the meltdown of America with the Obama years, to please fight for Donald Trump. He will not let us down. I pray for all good people to see clearly what faces us now. The right vote will save our nation.
Carson to endorse Trump
Carson says he will endorse Trump on Fri 11 March. In an interview with Fox Radio:
Well, you know there are two Donald Trumps. There’s the Donald Trump that you see on television and who gets out in front of big audiences, and there’s the Donald Trump behind the scenes. They’re not the same person. One’s very much an entertainer, and one is actually a thinking individual.

During a joint appearance at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Club resort Palm Beach, Florida, Carson formally endorses the GOP frontrunner.
We buried the hatchet. That was political stuff…I have found in talking with him, that there’s a lot more alignment, philosophically and spiritually, than I ever thought that there was.
Trump says Carson has not asked for any formal role, and praises his former rival’s ideas on education.
Ben’s going to have a big, big part.
Named as CIA chief
Trump officials say Pompeo has been offered and has accepted the job of CIA director.
Appointed to Attorney General
Trump’s transition officials say that Sessions has been appointed to be Attorney General. No official statement has come from Trump at this time. Transition official:
Until Donald Trump says it, it’s not official.
Denies Ambassador to Israel appointment
An official serving with Trump’s transition team says Huckabee will be appointed as America’s ambassador to Israel. The official also says, his first order of business will be to move the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. Official:
That’s going to happen. Governor Huckabee is going to see it through.
However, Huckabee denies the appointment:
Media buzz that I was named Amb to Israel is NOT true. Was never discussed with PE Trump; slot probably not picked until State Dept in place

Appoints Haley as UN ambassador
Trump appoints Haley as United Nations Ambassador, despite her criticism of him during his election campaign. Haley had supported Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz in the primary before saying last month she would vote for Trump despite reservations about his character. Transition team:
Governor Haley has a proven track record of bringing people together regardless of background or party affiliation to move critical policies forward for the betterment of her state and our country. She is also a proven dealmaker, and we look to be making plenty of deals. She will be a great leader representing us on the world stage.
Appoints DeVos Education Secretary
Four days after meeting with Trump and Pence at Trump’s golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey, Trump appoints DeVos as Education secretary. Trump:
Betsy DeVos is a brilliant and passionate education advocate. Under her leadership we will reform the U.S. education system and break the bureaucracy that is holding our children back so that we can deliver world-class education and school choice to all families.
I am honored to work with the President-elect on his vision to make American education great again. The status quo in ed is not acceptable.
