Bedridden for five months
In an interview with People, Lavigne talks about her battle with Lyme disease that left her bedridden for five months. She says that what helped her get through the long days was knowing that she had fans who were waiting for her to get better.
I had no idea a bug bite could do this. I felt like I couldn’t breathe, I couldn’t talk and I couldn’t move. I thought I was dying…There were definitely times I couldn’t shower for a full week because I could barely stand. It felt like having all your life sucked out of you…This was a wake-up call. I really just want to enjoy life from here on out.

I feel like I have a responsibility — I can’t just sit on my ass and do nothing. I need to talk about Lyme disease, because it’s real, it’s out there, it was a simple bug bite and it could happen to anybody. People need to know about it, because it’s not talked about that much and a lot of the information that’s out there is inaccurate.
Buys $5.4 million LA mansion
Lavigne and Kroeger buy a $5.4 million mansion in Los Angeles. The 7,888-square-foot French-style property is in a leafy part of Sherman Oaks on half an acre of land. It features six bedrooms, seven and a half bathrooms, a gym, basketball court, outdoor kitchen, a gourmet eat-in kitchen with three dishwashers, vaulted ceilings, a number of hand-carved fireplaces, four Juliet balconies, a dramatic bridal staircase, an ivy-covered outdoor terrace and an over-sized swimming pool.
Special Olympics opening ceremony performance
Lavigne makes her first concert performance in more than a year at the opening ceremony of the 2015 Special Olympics. She sings Fly.
