Bombings kill 162
Coordinated bombings, including at least two suicide attacks, as well as gun battles across Kano, Nigeria’s second-largest city, kill at least 162 people. A number of police and immigration offices are targeted, as well as residences. There are at least 20 blasts heard, and gunfire breaks out in several areas. A local TV reporter is killed while covering the shooting. Authorities impose a curfew on the city.
