Caitlyn Jenner was born in 1949 in Mt. Kisco, New York as Bruce. She is a former U.S. track and field athlete who won the gold medal in the decathalon at the 1976 Olympics in Montreal. She currently appears on the reality show Keeping Up with the Kardashians, and is the father of Burt and Casey, from his marriage to Chrystie Crownover; Brandon and Brody, from his marriage to Linda Thompson; and Kendall and Kylie, from his marriage to Kris Kardashian. He is the stepfather of Kourtney, Kim, Khloe and Rob Kardashian. She came out as transgender in 2015.

Judge Rosenberg grants Jenner’s petition to change her name and gender during a brief hearing at LA Superior Court. Jenner does not attend but is represented by two lawyers. The approval means Jenner’s new name is Caitlyn Marie Jenner, replacing her birth name of William Bruce Jenner. She can now  get documents — including a driver’s license and Social Security card — that conform to her new identity. Some details of the petition are redacted for provacy reasons:

Will not be prosecuted

The L.A. County D.A.’s Office says that Jenner was negligent, but not criminal and will not be prosecuted for vehicular manslaughter in February’s fatal PCH car crash. However, sources say that The D.A. can ignore the conclusions and go forward by filing criminal charges anyway, although it is seen as unlikely.

Jenner is sued by the stepchildren of Howe, who claim Jenner was ‘careless and negligent’ when he rear-ended her car, causing it to crash into another car, leading to her death in February. A source close to the investigation claims Jenner only had insurance coverage up to $250,000 at the time of the accident.
