McGregor attends the National Hockey League match, at the TD Garden, between the Boston Bruins and the Columbus Blue Jackets, and gives a rousing team talk to the Boston hosts:
Remember, nothing heroic gets done without support, without unity. We must back each other, we must support each other. Before you go out, look left, look right. Know that these people that are with you are your brothers… Boys, I wish you the best…Let’s go Boston Bruins.
The Bruins won a 2-1 in overtime, thanks to a winner from Brad Marchand. Marchand paid tribute to McGregor:
He’s an incredible guy, very energetic. He was humble. He was happy to be here…It was an honor to meet him…It’s something we’ll remember.

A large float is dedicated to McGregor at a carnival in Malta. The huge lookalike figure passes through the busy streets during the Karnival ta Malta or Maltese Carnival. It is one of the oldest historical festivals in the country, having being first introduced in 1535. McGregor posts a video of the float, commenting:

White announces McGregor and Nurmagomedov will fight in UFC 229, in Las Vegas on October 6.
I wouldn’t say this is a crossroads fight. This is a very important fight for both fighters. For Khabib, who is undefeated and who is looked at as one of the best fighters in the world, beating Conor is massive for him. And obviously for Conor, coming back from a two-year layoff, in my opinion — and it’s crazy to say this because of how popular he is around the world — but he’s one of the most underrated fighters in the UFC. Everybody thinks because he speaks so well and gets so crazy and everything, it makes him sort of less of a fighter. It’s the weirdest thing I’ve ever seen…When you talk about pound-for-pound, best in the world? This is a guy who is actually living proof for pound-for-pound. He [McGregor] jumps from weight class to weight class and fights people in different weight classes.
The UFC reportedly wanted a lightweight tournament with Nurmagomedov fighting McGregor in the fall and St-Pierre vs Diaz in August, with the two winners facing off at the end of the year. The GSP-Diaz bought was cancelled due to GSP’s illness. St-Pierre:
I’m not ready to fight yet. I need to wait until all the symptoms of my ulcer stop. It’s much better than it was but it’s not 100 percent yet. If I try to return for a training camp for a fight it will amplify and go back to what it was in the beginning. I need to get over this first for my own health and safety.
The Nurmagomedov-McGregor bout is impacted by McGregor’s legal issues. However, Nurmagomedov’s camp has also been pushing for a match up with St-Pierre instead, which they call a “legacy” bout.
After he was not able to meet with McGregor in Liverpool, White says the meeting has been rescheduled to Las Vegas, and that he is planning for the Irishman to fight Nurmagomedov. He also says he has not seen McGregor since the incident in Brooklyn and that he is not involved in his legal defence in any way.
Conor and I are going to meet in Las Vegas,. I’m pretty confident [a lightweight title fight] is a fight that Conor wants, and I’m pretty confident that is a fight Khabib wants. So yeah, I could see that happening.
White says he and McGregor will meet in Liverpool in the coming weekend to discuss the fighter’s future.
We’re going to sit down and talk about his future and what’s next…Obviously, he has to deal with [his legal situation] in June. I’m flying to Liverpool this weekend for a fight there, and he and I are going to meet in Liverpool.
Due to his actions in the ring at Bellator 187, where he attacked referee Marc Goddard, McGregor is pulled from his December 30th fight. Mike Mazzulli, president of the Association of Boxing Commissions and Combative Sports and the director of the Mohegan Tribe Department of Athletic Regulation:
McGregor took it upon himself to jump into the cage. And that adversely affected the outcome of the fight. Mr Redmond was injured, He made it difficult for the doctors to get in there and administer some medical attention. You don’t jump in the cage at at any time, in any fight. I’m never comfortable when someone takes it upon himself to act like a five-year-old and jump into the cage. The bottom line is, he was unprofessional, disrespectful and it was not acceptable in my eyes – in any situation…If he was licensed for me, I would suspend him indefinitely and I would require for him to come to a hearing and explain himself. Conor McGregor is a great, great fighter. But when it comes to what he did to Mr Goddard and Michael Johnson, what would possess someone to do that?
McGregor and his partner will host a premiere party for his upcoming movie, Notorious, in Dublin on November. Members of McGregor’s family will also join the event, including his mother and father and sisters, Aoife and Erin. The film’s director confirms McGregor himself will be on hand to host a red carpet event in Dublin to celebrate the launch:
The world premiere will be on November 1 in Dublin and Conor will be there and some other big names. It’s going to be a big red-carpet event. Conor really wanted the premiere to be in his hometown. The film will debut here and be released worldwide throughout November…There were times when Conor would tell all the cameras to leave but then say ‘You guys can stay’. We were pretty invasive but Conor was really comfortable with us.

The Sunday Worldreports McGregor is planning to fight Diaz, in the third round of a trilogy, tentatively scheduled for December 30, in Las Vegas. It is reported that McGregor’s friends and family are so sure of the fight being announced that they have already booked flights to Las Vegas. Insider:
Conor has told them that only the ‘Is’ have to be dotted and the ‘Ts’ crossed for this to go ahead.
After complaints from nine people, an advert for Paddy Power that urged punters to “always bet on black” before the Floyd Mayweather fight with Conor McGregor has been banned by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA), who said it was likely to cause “serious offence”. Paddy Power claimed the ad was not intended to cause offence on the grounds of race.
McGregor will get paid £100,000 from one night in Scotland, for a meet-and-greet event with fans in Glasgow. Supporters will have to fork out up to £1,100 for the chance to get up close to the superstar at the city’s SEC Armadillo on September 29. But the real reason McGregor is visiting Glasgow, is because he was bowled over by a display unveiled by Celtic fans last month. An insider:
Conor’s not short of a few bob. There’s no bigger name right now, and he’s in demand across the globe, but the truth is he was really keen to come to Scotland. He loves his Scots fans and really wanted to thank them personally. It had been agreed in principal before the negotiations even started.
McGregor parties at wedding of childhood friend Tom Devitt, in Ibiza, still sporting a black eye from the fight. He is accompanied by his mother, Margaret, and partner, Dee. McGregor congratulates his friends and looks forward to the party.
Brian Grace, 19 years old, from Limerick, didn’t have a ticket for the McGregor-Mayweather fight, but he ended up in front row seats worth $80,000. All he did was carry a ladder. Brian was in Vegas with two friends, who both had tickets to the main event, but Brian did not. However, he soon found himself in the front row.
There were two different security check-points. The first one was metal detectors and sniffer dogs. I hung around for a bit and then I noticed that Conor’s family – not his close family, maybe his extended family, like his cousins or something – they all turned up. I was well dressed, so I just walked in with them, and there was so many of them that it wasn’t a problem…I was walking around a bit and I noticed this ladder just lying there by a door, so I picked it up and walked in, no security pass or anything, just straight through this door. Then I put the ladder down, found my mates inside and we played the waiting game.
McGregor parties with fans, including Orlando Bloom, at Encore Beach Club in Las Vegas, after his TKO loss to Floyd Mayweather. McGregor personally paid $100,000 so his entourage could enjoy free drinks and private cabanas.

Saturday Night Live takes on the McGregor-Mayweather fight in a news skit.
I am going to drive Mayweather out of the ring, the way St. Patrick drove all the snakes out of Ireland: piss drunk, while screaming something about Jesus. All it’s going to take me to win is one punch!..I’m going to fight the Irish way, get me arse beat down, and then just get back up, and wander into the pub like nothing happened.

Showtime releases the fourth episode of All Access, its behind-the-scenes series about the build up to the McGregor-Mayweather fight. Dana White:
From the first day I met him I knew he’d be a big star. I call him ‘The Unicorn’. He’s very, very smart. His comedic timing is perfect. He’s a very likable guy. There’s no persona with Conor McGregor. He is who he is. I asked his girlfriend one time, ‘Is he like this 24/7?’ and she said, ‘Y’know Dana, sometimes I wake up and he’s shadow boxing in his underwear at three in the morning. That’s who he is.’…If Conor McGregor wins this fight, and he knocks out Floyd Mayweather, it will be the greatest upset in the history of sports. It is literally all anyone will talk about for a year…He has the ability to make you believe.
TMZ reports that a long list of celebrities will attend the McGregor-Mayweather fight on August 26, including Angelina Jolie, Drake, Elon Musk, Diddy, Mark Wahlberg, Denzel Washington, Charlize Theron, LL Cool J, Jamie Foxx, LeBron James, Bob Kraft, Rick Ross, Adam Levine, Michael Bay, Avicii, and Jeff Beacher. Others have yet to announce their attendance.
Collider Productions releases the trailer for the documentary, The McGregor Effect, which will be released on August 20. It includes narrations from fans who have been inspired by McGregor, such as Thomas Nolan, who was inspired to lose a huge amount of weight and become a personal trainer.
It’s a few different backgrounds my story being one. Another is the guys who done the mural in the gym of him smacking Mayweather, another one is an Irish female world kickboxing champion. [It’s about] how he’s inspired people in not only sports, but all aspects of life, basically giving hope to a country that was becoming a bunch of nagging negative Nancys.
McGregor and Mayweather appear in the third Episode of Showtime’s All Access. McGregor:
I could snap him down, latch up his neck and sleep him in seconds. So, I don’t give a fuck about him, I don’t hold respect for him, I will not show him respect in the fight. I don’t think he lasts four rounds, that’s being honest. Not only do I think I will beat him, I think I will also make it look easy.
At his Media Scrum, Mayweather says he has been keeping a close eye on McGregor’s preparations for their fight, and says he already know McGregor’s game plan, and says it won’t work against him.
It’s about doing your homework. It’s not really just watching fight tapes. It’s knowing the person that you’re facing across the ring from you…That’s called doing your due diligence and your homework on your opponent. Not just watching film and fight tapes…Even right now. I know what Conor McGregor is down to. He’s down. I think he was a little bit heavy. I think he’s at 160 now, so he’s down. Yeah, I mean I know what’s going on.
McGregor, he’s going to come out, and he’s going to keep switching. I already know what he’s going to do. He’s going to come out southpaw, then he’s going to switch the other way. But when you keep switching, all you’re going to do is burn energy.
