Lamas: ‘I’d love the chance to punch McGregor in his mouth’
In an interview with Submission Radio, Lamas says he would like to fight McGregor:
I’d love the chance to punch McGregor in his mouth. So probably McGregor would excite me the most…[Promotion] is part of the job, man. I mean, I’ve never been able to get out of any media obligations. And I know that he’s had a lot more put on him, but they’re paying him the money to do it. So he needs to get his ass in there and do this stuff. He’s gotta promote the events just like everybody else. Listen man, we’re all in this to be champions. We’re all in this for the UFC to, you know, hype us up as much as they can. The more exposure we get, the better it is for our career. That guy (McGregor) is making money hand over fist. He’s got nothing to complain about.
Manchester Arena interview
The band are interviewed after their show, supporting James, in Manchester. Aaron:
The first gig we played in Bristol, I shit myself. I was like, I never want to do this ever again. What am I doing? We’d done our own tour before, but this was in front of a few thousand people that were cold. I just went into myself, but after a few shows it was alright…It’s been amazing watching James be so relaxed about it.
They also reveal that the acoustic performance on the tour was because David Whitworth’s twins were born.
Daily Mail interview
Highfield is interviewed for a Johnston Press investor profile in The Daily Mail. On whether the i will increase national advertising share.
We have the opportunity now, if we can package ourselves properly, to go on the front foot to take a greater share. Even in a declining market this should be possible. For the first time we have enough clout, being the fourth largest publisher in the UK, to go to the agencies and forge our own agreements.
On Johnston Press’ general business condition:
We are only halfway through this journey. We have the debt down from almost £400m when I joined and a business that had a cost base that was unsustainable is a business with still almost the whole range of attractive brands. But as I say, the job is only half done.
Harper’s Bazaar interview
Trump gives an interview to Harper’s Bazaar Magazine about being pregnant with her first child.
She’ll be a daddy’s girl. I have a feeling they are going to gang up on me. I do have a bit of first time mom syndrome. I’m already on what I should be doing when she is three and when I should introduce new languages.

Mayweather: McGregor fight ‘absolutely’ will happen
In an interview with Showtime, Mayweather says that a fight with McGregor is going to happen.
It’s really not a rumor. The fight may happen. We really don’t know, as of right now. As of right now. But do I think the fight will happen? Absolutely…We’re the A-side, of course. It has to be a boxing match, because most fights that Conor McGregor won inside the Octagon, he was a stand-up guy. So I’m pretty sure it’s gonna be a tough fight for me. We really don’t know as of right now, but there’s been a lot of talk, and hopefully we can make the fight happen…One thing about Conor McGregor, he’s no pushover. He fell short in his last bout, but a true champion can always bounce back. So that’s a guy that I can’t overlook. But no numbers — we haven’t picked a venue, we haven’t talked about money yet…I’m gonna get $100 milion of course.
Cadalora: Rossi ‘a Frankenstein Rider’
Caladora talks about how he came to help Rossi;
I didn’t know him well. One day we met in Misano with the R1. He invited me to the Ranch at Tavullia. Then he asked me to follow him to the Phillip Island test. He asked me if I would be his ‘Boris Becker’ (former number 1 professional tennis player who has helped many current players). I told him that the money was not important, the passion yes. And I told him that the job had to be serious, or it wasn’t worth even to start.
On his style:
I don’t give any advice, I don’t allow myself to say, ‘Do this or do that.’ I think about what I have seen and then speak. Then Valentino decides to use those words as he sees fit. I go around the circuit with my scooter and study the track; I observe. I try to ‘feel’ the circuit and watch how Valentino and the other riders interact with the track. And afterwards, by studying the times, perhaps he can discern whether it is better to use this or that line. It’s not a very technical operation, there is not a hard rule or anything like that. Each time is different. It’s a little ‘artistic’ work, so to speak. And it’s good that way. What is really important is that Valentino and I do stay tuned. Today’s bikes and riders are at the very limit. The difference is one-tenth of a second per lap or less. You win by covering all the details.
On Rossi’s riding style:
He is a Frankenstein rider. As focused as Eddie Lawson, as whimsical as Kevin Schwantz; able to improvise like Wayne Rainey, while being as combative as Mick Doohan. All this with the enthusiasm and the desire of a teenager to improve…I expected to find another type of person. He is a simple, modest, likeable, straightforward guy.
White: McGregor-Mayweather ‘impossible’
In an interview on on the Russillo and Kannell show, White says that a McGregor-Mayweather matchup is ‘impossible’.
Let me put it to you this way. Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather are in the same sport. It took how long for those two to fight? Now imagine how hard it would be to get [Mayweather and McGregor] to fight. They’re not in the same sport. Is this thing going to be MMA or boxing rules? Who’s getting the lion’s share of the money? This and that. It’s impossible. But like I’ve said, ‘Floyd, you want to fight Conor, call me.’
Jeff Mayweather: Fight talk is just PR
Jeff Mayweather, Floyd’s uncle, says that McGregor fight talk is just PR.
He ain’t gonna fight no f-kin Conor McGregor. That’s a joke…It’s publicity… What I’m saying is this; Floyd is just playing with them. He’s playing with the public. He don’t give a f-k about no Conor McGregor. Conor McGregor ain’t got a shot in hell of beating Floyd…He ain’t gonna fight Conor, let’s make that shit clear. He ain’t gonna fight no Conor McGregor.
White to Mayweather: ‘Call me’
In an interview on the Dan Patrick show, White says that if Mayweather wants to fight McGregor, then he should give him a call.
"If Floyd @FloydMayweather wants to fight @TheNotoriousMMA….call me Floyd." –@danawhite on a Mayweather/McGregor fight. @dpshow
— Paul Pabst (@PaulPabst) May 11, 2016
White: McGregor relationship ‘great’
White says that he and McGregor have made up.
Conor and I have been talking every day, we’re going to have dinner next week. Our relationship is great, and we’re going to put the little speed bump in the road that happened there behind us and move forward. So everything is great…He will not be on 200. We’re going to get together next week and see what card he’s going to be on.
Roach: I was asked to train McGregor
Roach says he was asked to train McGregor.
They said, ‘will you train him?’ I said ‘Tell him to show up’. I like helping people. But I’m not going to train him to fight Mayweather. I’d have to train him for at least three years to get him ready for [Floyd] Mayweather…He’s a little green, but c’mon. He’s good at MMa, but come on…If you fight boxing rules the boxer will win, if you fight MMA rules the MMA guy will win…If he comes I’ll help him for sure.
Not receiving death threats
Attar, McGregor’s manager, says reports of McGregor receiving death threats are untrue.
Yes we have security, no not due to death threats. Security is in everyone’s best interest and for everyone’s safety.
Mayweather Snr: McGregor has ‘zero’ chance of defeating son
In an interview on Mayweather’s official boxing channel, Mayweather Snr. talks about the possibility of a fight with McGregor.
I think it would be bigger than Pacman and Floyd. You just wait and see.
On McGregor’s chances of beating his son:
Zero percent. I’m not going to say that it would be the quickest knock out of Floyd’s career. I’m not gonna say that. But it would be one of the most humiliating fights that anyone could see.
On whether the fight would actually be made:
Oh hell yes. It’s an easy test. You know what Floyd’s gonna do.
Says Honda acceleration worse than Suzuki
Marquez says that his RC213V Honda has slipped behind Suzuki as the worst accelerating MotoGP bike, bearing Aprilia.
The problem is, under acceleration, we are losing a lot. If we improve the acceleration, we will have one of the best bikes. It’s hard – on the straights the time is free, and it’s difficult for your mentality when you can’t follow people on the straight. We will have this for the next two races minimum. We know where we need to improve, but on the other hand it’s difficult in the middle of the season because the engines are closed [sealed]. If we made a ranking of acceleration, it would be: Ducati, Yamaha, Suzuki, Honda.
Nelson: Mcgregor can ‘walk through’ Diaz
Nelson says McGregor can learn from his losing bout with Diaz.
I think there were some technical mistakes in that fight that cost him the fight basically. I mean if you watch the first round and the beginning of the second, he was winning the fight, obviously, he was picking Diaz apart really. But there were a lot of shots that were kind of missing. He threw a lot more shots than he had to and I think maybe he rushed it a bit…I think if he takes his time and breaks him down, does what he does best, uses his speed a little bit better and maybe not concentrate on power as much, I think he will walk through Diaz.
Rogan: ‘Very possible’ Mayweather-McGregor could go distance
Rogan talks about Mayweather-McGregor possibilities:
I don’t think [McGregor can fight Mayweather]. I would imagine, unless the UFC is involved, [or they let him out of his contract] and I can’t imagine they would be willing to do that. If enough money gets thrown the UFC’s direction, the UFC might look at it this way, here’s a pragmatic way to look at it: ‘We can still make a lot of money with Conor McGregor’…You’re talking about a three million PPV buy or something crazy. So you do that, you move that up, you take that chance, and he gets boxed up by Mayweather and maybe he survives. If he survives and loses a f-king decision and he goes back and he says ‘All respect to Mayweather. Back to MMA. I just didn’t understand his hands. It’s a learning experience.’ and he has this great press conference. If he can survive, he’s not diminished too much. And Mayweather’s not a murderous puncher…it’s very possible [McGregor] is gonna get to the decision.
If McGregor and Mayweather fight in MMA, McGregor will f-k him up. He will f-k him up…But, in a boxing match, I can’t imagine a world where Mayweather doesn’t f-k [McGregor] up. In a boxing match I think Mayweather is arguably the greatest boxer of all time…He’s just so much better. And if people don’t know, if you think you’re really good and then you get in there and box a guy like that, he will f-cking expose the shit out of you. But, who knows man? One of the things we know about Conor is he has a ridiculous belief in himself and he has unbelievable power. One of the things we know about Floyd is he’s 39. So when a guy turns 39, you never know.
Mayweather: fighting McGregor ‘possible’
In Las Vegas for the Canelo Alvarez-Amir Khan fight, Mayweather responds to rumours that he and McGregor are working on the richest fight in boxing history, with McGregor getting about $10 million to Mayweather’s $144 million take. Mayweather:
It’s possible. It was a name that was shot at me. The rumors that you all have been hearing are the rumors that I started. It may not be a rumor, so keep your fingers crossed. It may be a boxer versus an MMA fighter….You already know my number. . . . Every time I go out there and compete at the highest level my number is, of course, $100 million or better. I feel that I can demand that because I’ve broken all records in the sport of boxing.

Says winglets hurting overtaking
When asked about the lack of late-race overtaking this year, Marquez says winglets could be a factor, along with the new Michelin tyres.
It’s difficult to say, it’s many things. We are trying to understand the tyres, it’s difficult to manage all the [race] pace because you don’t know when they will drop [laptime]. And, another thing, the wings didn’t help for the show, for the overtakes. This also can be a good reason, now it’s starting to be kind of Formula 1. When you take the slipstream you don’t have the downforce, then you have more wheelie, so it’s more difficult to overtake.
