Emmy nomination
Close is nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama for the 64th Emmy Awards for portraying Patty Hewes on Damages.
I am thrilled to be recognized by the Academy and to share this category with such exciting and accomplished actresses. Damages has been the ride of a lifetime and I am honored to represent every single one of our extraordinary team. I would not be here without them, especially, KZK, our brilliant writers and my exquisite co-star, Rose Byrne. And I thank our wonderfully loyal and engaged audience who have never wavered in their love and support of our show.

I congratulate all my fabulous category sisters, Rosie-my partner in crime-and Lily, Marty and Ted, who are brilliant. I’m so proud to be a part of this show. Our extraordinary writers have consistently challenged and inspired the entire Damages team.

I’m really happy that in our second year, the team pulled off something the Academy saw that was worth recognizing, and I was especially happy for Rose, who is so much fun to work with. I wish the writers were nominated, though, as I wouldn’t be here for the second time without the words they put in my mouth.
Hollywood Walk of Fame
Close is presented with her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for her work in the category of Motion Pictures. Industry friends Michael Chiklis, Tate Donovan, and Mary Kay Place attend the affair in support of Close.
To be considered a star is one thing, but to be embedded in the sidewalk with life passing over us, that for me is the best part of this honor. Five-inch heels, flip-flops, Birkenstocks, dropped ice cream cones, the odd tobacco squirt, baby carriages, roller blades, skateboards, wheelchairs –– bring it all on.
