GMA interview
Davis is interviewed on Good Morning America.
I’m just a normal person that has been touched by the grace of God, and his mercy…I’m good at my job. I have friends who are gay and lesbians. They know where I stand. And we don’t agree on this issue, and we’re OK because we respect each other…I can’t put my name on a license that doesn’t represent what God ordained marriage to be… What people say about me does not define who I am. That’s everybody’s opinion and that’s everybody’s right…What probably hurt me the worst is when someone tells me that my God does not love me or that my God is not happy with me, that I am a hypocrite of a Christian.
Apologizes for racial slur
Hogan apologizes on Good Morning America, for calling his daughter’s boyfriend a “nigger”.
I’m not a racist but I never should have said what I said. It was wrong. I’m embarrassed by it…If anybody should have disowned me it should have been her,’ said Hogan. ‘I was upset about something that happened between her and her boyfriend…Please forgive me.
He says he was suicidal:
I was to the point where I wanted to kill myself, you know? I was completely broken and destroyed and said, ‘What’s the easiest way out of this?’ I mean, I was lost. I’ve worked for the WWE for almost 30 years off and on… and then all of a sudden, everything I’ve done my whole career and my whole life was like it never happened.
Hogan also says he inherited racial bias from growing up in Port Tampa
People need to realize that you inherit things from your environment. And where I grew up was south Tampa, Port Tampa, and it was a really rough neighborhood, very low income. And all my friends, we greeted each other saying that word…I would say that is very fair [that I inherited a racial bias]. ‘I think that was part of the culture and the environment I grew up in and I think that’s fair to say.
On air apology
Stephanopoulos apologizes live on Good Morning America:
Over the last several years, I have made substantial donations to dozens of charities, including the Clinton Global Foundation. Those donations were a matter of public record. But I should have made additional disclosures on-air when we covered the foundation and I now believe directing personal donations to that foundation was a mistake. Even though I made them strictly to support work done to stop the spread of AIDS, help children and protect the environment in poor countries, I should have gone the extra mile to avoid even the appearance of a conflict. I apologize to all of you for failing to do that.
