Duff appears on the cover of the May 2010 issue of Lucky magazine. She talks about online shopping, her favorite shopping site, and her style.
I’m a jeans girl. When I’m going out, I tend to just transition my outfits from day to night.
Beauty & the Briefcase
Duff stars in the ABC Family movie Beauty & the Briefcase. Duff plays Lane, who is an aspiring fashion journalist looking for love in the business world while writing a piece for Cosmopolitan magazine.
You know what? A few of my friends had read the book, Confessions of a Working Girl, and this script is based on that book so it was pretty intriguing to me and I read the story and it was fun and it was lighthearted and it kind of brought me back to my roots a little bit with all the physical comedy that was involved and it was a chance for me to executive produce a project which I’ve been looking for and this seemed like a good fit.
Comrie, Duff engaged

She was completely surprised. I don’t think that happens all the time. I think most of the time people figure it out or have some idea that it’s going to happen, and I think it’s great he was able to do a surprise like that for her.
Nylon cover
Duff appears on the cover of the January 2010 issue of Nylon magazine. She talks about how she felt joining the cast of Gossip Girl and being fake towards the public.
It seemed for a time there were people who hated each other – and I knew they hated each other – but they were in pictures together all the time, smiling and throwing their arms around each other. I was like, ‘You’re in the same business I am – how can you do that and feel okay? I so wouldn’t do that.’
According to Greta
Duff stars in the indie film According to Greta. Duff plays the main character, Greta, who is a suicidal teenager living with her grandparents for the summer. Throughout her summer Greta gets involved with a boy who has a criminal past and tries to drown herself while out sailing. The film also features actors Evan Ross, Michael Murphy and Ellen Burstyn.
It was a different character for me. It’s a coming of age story for a young girl. She has this list and plans to enter life before her eighteenth birthday. I think it’s a cry for help, trying to be noticed and trying to find her place in the world.
Gossip Girl
Duff plays recurring character Olivia Burke on the television series Gossip Girl. Duff’s character Olivia is a famous actress that attends NYU and hopes for a normal life as a young person in college, but ends up in scandal among the Gossip Girl characters. Olivia also becomes one of Dan’s—played by Penn Badgley—love interests.
I don’t think the character is based on a particular person, but her name is Oliva Burke and she’s been in a movie franchise … She’s had this lifestyle where everyone knows who she is. She’s been working for years and years and years and just wants to escape it all
Stay Cool
Duff stars in film Stay Cool with costars Winona Ryder, Mark Polish and Jon Cryer. The movie follows author Henry—played by Polish—who reunites with an old high school flame Scarlett—played by Ryder—in his hometown to give a commencement speech. Duff’s character Shasta O’Neil tries to weasel her way into Henry’s love life by inviting him to her prom.
She (Shasta) is a very normal girl. She is a high school student graduating, but she is really spunky and kind of larger than life and she’s a huge flirt. That’s not really me in real life so it was fun to get to do.
Maxim cover
Duff appears on the cover of the January 2009 issue of Maxim magazine. She talks about the worst thing ever written about her, her music video for Reach Out, and being a virgin.
I’ve been accused by the press of giving lap dances at clubs. I mean, little ol’ me? It’s shocking. People love to believe it—it’s way more exciting to talk about than the truth! And they’re so descriptive about these lap dances. I don’t even know how to do a lap dance!
War, Inc.
Duff stars in political satire film War, Inc. Duff plays Yonica Babyyeah, an over sexualized pop star caught in the middle of a plot to kill a oil mogul in the middle east. Duff co-stars with John Cusack, Joan Cusack and Dan Aykroyd.
When I did War, Inc. with John, he called me up on the phone and said ‘I want you for this movie. I have never met you before, but, I think you would be perfect. I think you would kill this role, I heard you do really good accents.’
Lucky cover
Duff appears on the cover of the April 2008 issue of Lucky magazine. She talks about outfits, her fashion label, and her perfume.
This new perfume is lighter and sweeter than my last one. I wanted the scent to seem springy, like when you first throw on a sundress in warm weather and feel really girly.
Maxim cover
Duff appears on the cover of the August 2007 issue of Maxim magazine. She talks about her success and why she isn’t a train wreck.
A lot of people keep me in check. It’s not exactly hard being so young and having so much—I’m thankful. But young people in Hollywood get so used to being told “yes” all the time, and that’s not reality. When you get everything you want at a young age, you become bored. You’re like, “What’s next? What else is there?” I think that might be the problem.
Material Girls
Duff stars in film Material Girls, playing Tanzie who finds she is not allowed to spend money with her sister Ava—played by real life sister Haylie Duff—after a media scandal involving their family comes to light.
We look out for each other, like in the movie, but those girls are very materialistic. Haylie and I, we can’t say that we don’t like to shop every once in a while, but we’re not like these girls.
Cheaper By The Dozen 2
Duff stars in feature film sequel Cheaper By The Dozen 2. Duff comes back to play one of 12 Baker children Lorraine with co-stars Steve Martin, Bonnie Hunt and Eugene Levy who plays Jimmy Murtaugh the rival family of the Baker’s. In one last family vacation Lorraine and her siblings help her family win in a summer vacation competition between them and the Murtaugh family.
The franchise rocks, and the sequel’s gonna be fun.
Most Wanted
0 CommentsDuff releases her first compilation album Most Wanted. The record features 13 tracks, 10 tracks have been previously released and three newly recorded songs. The album also features a collaboration with Haylie Duff on the song Our Lips Our Sealed.
My favorite songs on the album are the three new ones produced by Benji and Joel from Good Charlotte. I’ve been such a big fan of their music for such a long time.
The Perfect Man
Duff stars in the romantic comedy The Perfect Man. Duff plays Holly, the daughter of Jean played by Heather Locklear. Jean moves her family to a different location every time her heart is broken by another man so Holly decided to create the perfect man for her mother just to stay in one place.
I loved the relationship between the mother and daughter, the love that they found and the romance. It has a lot of heart. I think it gives people faith out there and reminds them that fate is still out there, especially in this day and age, that nice things really do happen like that.
Raise Your Voice
Duff stars in the feature film Raise Your Voice. Duff plays main character Terri Fletcher who overcomes emotional hardship to rediscover her confidence and love for singing. The film also features actors David Keith and Jason Ritter.
I think luckily whenever I had a dream my parents have been 100 percent supportive and I’ve never had to sneak around. I think that Terri was so naive when she got into that school. She’s such an open minded girl and I think it hit her hard when she gets to the school and see that people really are that evil. She doesn’t know how to handle it at first.
Hilary Duff
0 CommentsDuff releases her third studio album, Hilary Duff. The 17 track record features collaborations with Charlie Midnight, John Shanks and Kara DioGuardi who all collaborated on Duff’s Metamorphosis album.
On the second album I worked with a lot of people that I worked with on the Metamorphosis album. And when I worked on Metamorphosis I was so nervous and shy about going into the studio and working with people, they eventually toward the end made me feel so comfortable and so secure with myself. I loved working with them.
A Cinderella Story
Duff stars in the feature film A Cinderella Story. Duff plays high school character Sam who falls in love with character Austin Ames—played by Chad Michael Murray—while wearing a mask at a school dance. A modern twist on the Cinderella story, Austin tries to find out who Sam is after she drops her cell phone leaving the dance.
Well, I’m kind of like Sam in a way. You’re very cautious and you don’t want to put yourself out there to get yourself let down or hurt or something. But I guess if you really care about someone and they really care about you too, then you sometimes just go for it and let everything go. And have fun with it. It can be exciting.
Cheaper By The Dozen
Duff stars in feature film Cheaper By The Dozen. Duff plays one of the 12 Baker children Lorraine who is the third eldest child in the family. Duff’s co-stars include Steve Martin and Bonnie Hunt who play Tom and Kate Baker, Lorraine’s parents.
Steve Martin and Bonnie Hunt were both really cool. There were 12 kids in the movie so it was never boring and always pretty hectic on set.
