Not impressed with Hillary’s book
Paul tells the press that Clinton’s book, Hard Choices, is not impressive and not worth plagiarizing. He makes no positive statements about any part of the book, and references Harry Potter as a better read. Paul finds it unlikely that he will read another Clinton publication and calls it a waste of time.
I read a lot of books, and it’s rare that I don’t find a passage or two to lift here or there.
Left White House ‘broke’
0 CommentsClinton reveals that she and Bill faced financial trouble following his tenure as President.
We came out of the White House not only dead broke, but in debt. We had no money when we got there, and we struggled to, you know; piece together the resources for mortgages, for houses, for Chelsea’s education. You know, it was not easy.
The couple resolved their financial problems and built up a net worth of $50 million.
Supports Bergdahl swap
0 CommentsAt an event in Denver, Clinton makes supportive statements on the Obama Administration’s trade for Bowe Bergdahl. She believes Bergdahl would not have lasted more than the five years he was already in captivity. She also notes that retrieving soldiers is a noble tradition that the U.S. holds. Clinton did not answer directly whether she would have made the trade if in office herself, however she stands behind the decision.
American allies often make such deals.

Abortion should be ‘legal, safe and rare’
Clinton says she believes abortion should remain a legal option but should be safe and rare. She adds that making alternatives acceptable will lower the number of abortions performed.
I think abortion should remain legal, but it needs to be safe and rare. And I have spent many years now, as a private citizen, as First Lady, and now as senator, trying to make it rare, trying to create the conditions where women have other choices. I have supported adoption, foster care. I helped to create the campaign against teenage pregnancy, which fulfilled our original goal 10 years ago of reducing teenage pregnancies by about a third. And I think we have to do even more.
O Magazine interview
Bush talks about being compared to Clinton:
I am going to be Laura Bush. Every first lady has been different, and she has used her passion for the benefit of our nation. For example, Lady Bird Johnson made a huge contribution to our country through her love of nature—the Highway Beautification Act was really the start of the environmental movement. That’s pretty radical.
Wins Grammy
Clinton wins the Grammy for Best Spoken Word Or Non-Musical Album for It Takes A Village.
UN women’s rights speech
Clinton talks about women’s rights in a speech to the U.N. 4th World Conference on Women:
We focus world attention on issues that matter most in our lives — the lives of women and their families: access to education, health care, jobs and credit, the chance to enjoy basic legal and human rights and to participate fully in the political life of our countries. What we are learning around the world is that if women are healthy and educated, free from violence, and have a chance to work and earn as full and equal partners in society, their families will flourish. When families flourish, communities and nations do as well. Human rights are women’s rights and women’s rights are human rights.
Bill and Hillary Clinton interview
The Clintons are interviewed by Hall on The Arsenio Hall Show. They talk about if they argue, and if Bill has ever thought about quitting his presidency. Bill:
I wanted the voters to make up their mind. If the voters say, ‘Hey we think some other person will be a better president!’ I will go home a happy man to the life that I’ve got. It’s a wonderful life.
AS First Lady interview
Clinton is interviewed about becoming Arkansas first lady. She talks about privacy, the couple’s young age, children, and her relationship:
I’m very lucky because I married Bill when he was a defeated politician. He had lost his race for Congress, and I had known him for a period of time before that in law school, before I ever knew really that he was interested in politics and had an opportunity to get to know him. We have, for me, an excellent marriage. I’m not sure that it would suit other people, because the kinds of strains that we’ve been talking about, being in the public eye, being separated from one another are ones that not everyone could live with…But I really believe in what he’s doing, I think that he’s a superb human being as well as a good politician, so that for me, those are sacrifices that I’m willing to make, and he’s very supportive of me and everything that I do, and I try to do as much as I can for him so that, I think there are strains in any marriage, and a political marriage, of course, has strains, but I’m not so sure that any marriage doesn’t have their own particular kinds of strains and each couple has to work out an accommodation for whatever reasons there may be. So that we’ve worked out ours and we’re very happy , and I just hope that other people can work our their strains as well as I think we have.
