Joan Rivers was an American comedian and television show host born in 1933 in Brooklyn, New York. Rivers first rose to fame as a guest on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson in 1965. She went on to host shows such as The Late Show, The Joan Rivers Show, Fashion Police, and Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best? Movies that she appeared in include The Swimmer, Serial Mom, Les Patterson Saves The World, and The Intern. In 1989, she earned a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Rivers also won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Talk Show Host in 1990. She was married to James Sanger in 1955 and to producer Edgar Rosenberg from 1965 to 1987. Her daughter is television show host Melissa Rivers. In 2014, Rivers died in Manhattan, New York at the age of 81.

Rivers guests on Late Night with Seth Meyers to promote her new book, Diary of a Mad Diva. She also talks about Anne Frank, her pregnancy struggles with her daughter Melissa, and being a grandmother.

He calls me “Nana Newface”, which I think is funny. What I do do, I take him every year to a summer school because the summer schools here in L.A. are pfft. We go to Grandma Week. Last year, we did 13 colonies, this year we did Italy and it’s amazing.

Fallon says he will win a $100 bet, with an unnamed friend from his past, if he ever hosts The Tonight Show. Moments later, Robert De Niro comes out and hands Fallon a $100 dollar bill, followed by Tina Fey, Joe Namath, Rudy Giuliani, Mariah Carey, Joan Rivers, Kim Kardashian, Seth Rogen, Mike Tyson, Lady Gaga, Lindsey Lohan, Tracy Morgan, and Sarah Jessica Parker. Stephen Colbert is last and dumps a bucket of pennies onto Fallon and his desk.

And to my buddy who said that I’d never be the host of The Tonight Show, and you know who you are, you owe me one hundred bucks, buddy.
