Fire and Blood

Harington appears as Jon Snow in the tenth episode of the first season of Game of Thrones, Fire and Blood. James Cosmo plays Night’s Watch Lord Commander Jeor Mormont. John Bradley-West plays Jon’s companion, Samwell ‘Sam’ Tarly, and Mark Stanley and Josef Altyn play the Night’s Watchmen Grenn and Pyp. At Castle Black on the Wall of Westeros, Jon makes a decision to desert the Night’s Watch and travel south to join his half-brother, Robb Stark, in the war against the Lannisters. He is chased by other Night’s Watchmen and when one of them falls, he realizes it is Sam and returns to help him. Sam, Grenn and Pyp are able to convince Jon that if his father, Lord Eddard Stark, were still alive, he would not accept his desertion. Jon realizes that Robb also may not accept him as a deserter and that he potentially faces death and dishonor by leaving. Jeor decides to overlook Jon’s desertion as it was motivated by a desire to help his family and the traumatic news of his father’s death. He warns Jon that the war they are facing against the undead White Walkers is far more dangerous than the war between the Lannisters and Starks.
