Luis Salom dies age 24

Salom crashes on turn 12 of the Catalunya circuit, while participating in Moto2 Free Practice. The cause of the accident remains unclear. No other riders are involved. Two medical cars and two ambulances are immediately on scene to treat him, and a medical helicopter is deployed to assist in his treatment. Due the severity of his condition, he is taken by road to the nearby Hospital General de Catalunya. On arrival, he undergoes surgery, but dies at 16:55pm local time.

The FIM, Dorna, IRTA, RFME and the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya wishes to pass on its condolences to the family, friends and team of Salom.
