Contact lost over Vietnam
Chinese news reports say its radar signal was lost as it was flying over the Ho Chi Minh City air traffic control area in Vietnam. A Vietnamese Army official says that the plane lost all contact and radar signal one minute before it entered Vietnam’s air traffic control.
Malaysian Airlines CEO Ahmad Juahari Yahya initially says that the flight lost contact with Malaysian air traffic control some two hours after takeoff, but the airline quickly revises that statement to say that contact was lost less than an hour after takeoff.
