McDonald’s Corporation is the largest fast food hamburger restaurant chain in the world, headquartered in Oak Brook, IL. McDonald’s operates more than 35,000 restaurants in 118 countries worldwide. McDonald’s began in 1940 as a single barbecue restaurant owned by Richard and Maurice McDonald, but they redeveloped their restaurant into a hamburger stand in 1948. Ray Kroc joined their team in 1955, and later purchased the chain and oversaw worldwide growth through franchising. McDonald’s primary sells hamburgers, chicken sandwiches, french fries, breakfast items, and desserts. The Big Mac is McDonald’s signature sandwich.

Announces all-day breakfast

McDonald’s announces that it will start all-day breakfast at all stores from Oct 6, after franchisees vote to approve the proposal. The restaurant will only serve a limited breakfast menu past 10:30 and items will vary based on region. The company sends a series of tweets to customers who had asked questions about the start date.

McDonald’s announces Chicken Selects are coming back to the menu in American restaurants, after having been absent for two years:

We look forward to bringing back this customer favorite made with chicken tenderloin.

Individual restaurant will determine if the Chicken Selects remain on the menu permanently:

They are limited time offer, however markets have the option to keep them if they want, so some areas may continue to sell them.

Ordering app available

McDonald’s tests the ‘McDonald’s Mobile Ordering’ app in 22 locations in Georgia and Alabama. Customers can order and pay for their food  on the app and pick up their food outside at a curbside check-in or inside from a special queue. The app is free on Apple iOS and Google Android operating systems.

We are testing these technologies in a few markets, so it’s premature to speculate on the decisions we may make after the tests, but we’re excited to bring a cutting-edge experience in the future to our customers.

Ranks last in 2014 customer satisfaction rating

McDonald’s ranks last in American Customer Satisfaction Index’s ranking of fast food restaurants for 2014. Their satisfaction score fell from 73 percent in 2013 to 71 percent in 2014. The ratings are based on interviews from 4,572 customers contacted between January and March 2014.
