Starships video
0 CommentsMinaj releases Starships video from her album Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded. The video is directed by Anthony Mandler and features Minaj in a bikini covered in body paint, rapping on a beach. When asked about the Pop sound of Starships and why she is singing on the track Minaj replies:
I did a song called Knockout with Lil Wayne about three years ago. Nobody said anything about that. Why? Because it didn’t become huge like Starships. That’s what irritates me. People always want to talk about who I was, but I’ve always been singing, always been experimenting with pop music. So the fact that it got huge one day, should I apologize for that? Should I apologize that Starships and Super Bass did well, and children like them, and Middle America can sing along? There’s nothing wrong with that. I’m just broadening my fan base. I think everyone should enjoy music.

I’m anxious as hell to play opposite Cameron Diaz. Sometimes I’ve just been up, like, ‘Oh my God, please. I don’t want to disappoint myself in front of her.’ Would you believe I read Django? I loved that script, but I knew I was never going to be able to play that Kerry Washington part. I never even auditioned, but she’s fricking amazing.

Marie Claire cover
Minaj is featured on the cover of Marie Claire magazine and is the first rapper to ever be featured on the cover. Minaj is also questioned in the magazines Q&A section about her career, future and advice for her fans.
I was on a world tour, a big feat for a female rapper. For the first time, I allowed myself to feel proud of where music had gotten me, and I felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude. You feel the need to pay it forward, which starts with analyzing yourself with a true desire to grow. I was praying every day, ‘You know what, Lord? I want to be a mom one day, and I want to start becoming the woman who I want to parent my child.’ I wanted all of the feelings of entitlement to leave me, because some people have this life for a year or five or 10 – and a lot of them lose it. I didn’t want to become a person who wasn’t enjoying the moment.

I used to read the bad things people said about me, then I asked myself, ‘Why am I reading that when I have millions of people saying great things?’ You cannot give negativity power. I tell teens, if you’re having a problem, there’s nothing wrong with deleting your social media. If people keep taunting you and you keep reading it, it’s poison.
Up In Flames video
0 CommentsMinaj releases the music video for the single Up In Flames from her album Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded –The Re-Up. The video directed by features motorcycle stunts and Minaj playing the piano. When questioned about the controversy of the video Minaj states:
If a dude was on a that song with me, everyone would’ve talked about it and they would [argue] ‘who had the best verse,’ but when I put a song out by myself. [It’s] because men run the hip-hop game. Let’s be honest, they’re the [radio] program directors, they wanna be able to rap stuff and they’re not gonna recite a female [verse]. They just feel funny and it is what it is.
