Questlove posts an Instagram tribute to the time Williams name-checked him in an elevator at the Grammy awards ceremony:
This particular Sunday we were walking backstage and had to ride the elevator to the backstage area and we piled inside when suddenly this voice just said “questlove…..black thought….rahzel….the roots from Philadelphia!!!! That’s right you walked on this elevator saying to yourself “ain’t no way this old white dude knows my entire history and discography”….we laughed so hard. That NEVER happened to is before. Someone a legend acknowledged us and really knew who we were.
Ferrell and Smith appear on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon to put an end to their rivalry. The two wear matching outfits and speak as the other person in an interview with Fallon. Ferrell describes when he first heard of the “impostor”:
Yeah. I was jammin’. I was jammin’ with the Chili Peppers, with my guys. At our jamhouse. I’m like, ‘Flea, this is bull. I’m tired of not getting enough respect as Chad Smith.’ I’ll be honest, I’m a little high right now.
The two then engage in a drum-off (with Questlove acting as ghost drummer for Ferrell). The challenge was interrupted when Smith’s Red Hot Chili Peppers bandmates appeared for a rendition of (Don’t Fear) the Reaper.
Fallon & Jonah Hill have a real-life Twitter conversation about Friends, The Wolf of Wall Street, and Snoop Dogg with an appearance from Martin Scorsese and Questlove of The Roots.
Armisen and Questlove compete in a drumoff.
