Rep: not in rehab

AnnouncementRehab0 Comments

LaBeouf’s representatives announce that actor is voluntarily receiving treatment for alcohol addiction, making it clear that he is not checked into a rehab facility contrary to previous reports.

He understands that these recent actions are a symptom of a larger health problem and he has taken the first of many necessary steps towards recovery.

TMZ believes that LaBeouf has selected a 12-step program, even obtaining photos of the actor carrying an Alcohol Anonymous book.

LaBeouf is seen checking into a private treatment facility in Hollywood according to an X17 exclusive. The photo agency followed the actor from his home to the facility where he was greeted by a nurse and security guard.

Shia was nervous; he didn’t look good all morning. He was looking down and wasn’t even talking to his driver. It looked like he didn’t want to do it, but he knew he had to.

Baldwin: LaBeouf was fired

FiredInterview0 Comments

In a statement to Joe Hagan, Baldwin reveals the reason behind LaBeouf’s hasty exit from Orphans.  The actor corroborates that the two had “creative differences,” but goes on to say that the younger actor was ultimately fired.  Baldwin says he knew one of them had to go and even volunteered to leave the play rather than LaBeouf.

I said, ‘I’ll tell you what, I’ll go.’ I said don’t fire the kid, I’ll quit. They said no, no, no, no, and they fired him. And I think he was shocked.

Plagiarism accusation

Accusation0 Comments

Clowes accuses LaBeouf of illegally borrowing from his 2007 comic, Justin M. Damiano.  The plagiarism went unnoticed until LaBeouf’s short film, Howard Cantour.com, debuted online.  Fantagraphics Books Inc., Clowes publisher, calls the film “a complete rip-off,” and that the novelist was never approached by LaBeouf to authorize an adaptation.  In an interview with Buzzfeed, Clowes says:

The first I ever heard of the film was this morning when someone sent me a link. I’ve never spoken to or met Mr. LaBeouf.  I’ve never even seen one of his films that I can recall — and I was shocked, to say the least, when I saw that he took the script and even many of the visuals from a very personal story I did six or seven years ago and passed it off as his own work. I actually can’t imagine what was going through his mind.

In response to the accusation, the short film is blocked from view on Vimeo yet continues to be available on BuzzFeed in its entirety.

Howard Cantour.com, a short film directed by LaBeouf, premiers at the Cannes Film Festival.  The 12-minute short stars Jim Gaffigan as Howard Cantour, an internet film critic who runs a movie review website with his carefully cultivated and critical eye.

It’s really an honor to be presenting my directorial debut to this crowd. It’s really outrageous to me.

LaBeouf, Mulligan split

Breakup0 Comments

LaBeouf and Mulligan break up over their “incompatible lifestyles.”  LaBeouf says there was friction in the relationship because Mulligan was more interested in marriage and children while he was not ready to settle down.

Carey is not just an actress, she is a great human being, a sweet girl and super intelligent.  Our thing came down to not having compatible work/lifestyles.  We were always traveling, and had sensibility differences that weren’t conductive to living with one another.

LaBeouf says he’s not opposed to marriage, just that he’s still young.

I come from divorce.  I’m only doing marriage once. It’s not a game for me.  I’m not a religious person, but I have ethics.

Shia LeBeouf born in Los Angeles

Birth0 Comments

shia-labeouf-as-a-childShia Saide LaBeouf is born in Los Angeles, California to parents Jeffery and Shayna LeBeouf.  LaBeouf grew up an only child in the poor Echo Park district, in one of the few white families living in a largely Latino area.  When he was two his father began dressing him up as a clown and putting him to work shilling for the family’s hot dog cart business.

My embarrassment factor didn’t exist. I had fun, because I knew that in the middle of a performance my parents couldn’t fight. So, for sure, every day, there had to be some peaceful time for us, or we weren’t going to make it through the week financially.

Young LeBeouf was subjected to verbal and mental abuse from his drug-addicted father who reportedly pointed a gun at his son during a Vietnam flashback.  His parents got divorced when he was 10.

LeBeouf turned to stand-up comedy as a way to make money, talking his way into gigs at local L.A. comedy clubs.  At age 11 he found an agent, Teresa Dahlquist, in the phone book and called her pretending to be the British manager of a young actor named Shia LaBeouf. Dahlquist was impressed with his resourcefulness and signed him as a client.
