Tiger Woods

2014 WGC-Bridgestone Invitational withdrawal

3 Aug, 2014

Woods withdraws from the competition in the middle of the fourth round due to back spasms. He says he aggravated his back on his second shot on Number 2, from the lip of a fairway bunker where he lost his balance and jumped into the sand trap. This is the third event he has participated in since back surgery in March of 2014. At this time, it is unclear whether Woods will play in the PGA Championship later this week or be chosen to play on the U.S. Ryder Cup team. As he prepares to leave, Woods says:

Just want to get out of here. I fell back into the bunker I just jarred it, and it’s been spasming every since. It’s just the whole lower back.
