I had little hope. But I targeted a top-15 finish so it would be inappropriate not to be happy with silver now.

Gisin wins the Olympic gold medal in the Women’s Alpine Skiing: Downhill event with Tina Maze of Slovenia. Both skiers put in an exact time of 1:41.57 minutes, and both placed first. No silver medal was awarded in this event.
I’m sure glad I’m going to share this gold with Tina. She’s such a great woman and one of the greatest athletes of our sport.

I was really lucky in my last shooting. So many guys were missing so I could go into third place.

That’s amazing. Before the Olympics, I was thinking that if I can get in the top 10 it would be great from me.

It is just great, there were a lot of expectations. I wanted this for so much, I had been thinking about if for four years.

Slalom for me is kind of like a game of luck. Roll the dice and it’s on, or roll the dice and it’s off.

It’s unbelievable. Of course, I was the big favorite for today, but I had some problems on the downhill course.

Innerhofer wins the Olympic bronze medal in the Men’s Alpine Skiing: Combined event. The Italian puts in a combined time of 2:45.67 minutes, and is happy to have a place on the podium. He celebrates with silver medalist Ivica Kostelić and gold medalist Sandro Viletta.
At the start gate, I nearly decided not to bother because the downhill went so well for a lot of the slalom specialists. I can’t believe it, this is crazy.

Innerhofer wins the Olympic silver medal in the Men’s Alpine Skiing: Downhill event. The Italian finishes the race with a time of 2 minutes, 6.29 seconds, just beating Kjetil Jansrud of Norway who had a time of 2 minutes, 6.33 seconds.
I’m not one of those skiers who can win the overall or the discipline title. With my health condition that wouldn’t be realistic. So I go race by race and today I had my best run of the season

I’m so happy that I win the silver medal, and for me it’s the perfect start to the Olympics

Bjørndalen wins the Olympic gold medal in the Men’s Biathlon: Sprint event. The Norwegian’s early time of 24:33.5 minutes holds up against all competitors earning the Olympian the top spot on the podium. He also makes history with this win and becomes the most-decorated Winter Games athlete.
This victory has been a four-year job and it has been many years since I won, but life is too short to give up.
