The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and Al Gore are jointly awarded the Peace Prize for their efforts to spread knowledge about climate change.
For their efforts to build up and disseminate greater knowledge about man-made climate change, and to lay the foundations for the measures that are needed to counteract such change.
Gore gives a speech at SXSW, calling on attendees to punish climate-change deniers. He says politicians should pay a price for rejecting ‘accepted science.’ Gore also says that smart investors are transitioning towards companies investing in alternative energy.
We need to put a price on carbon to accelerate these market trends. And in order to do that, we need to put a price on denial in politics.
Gore meets with Trump and Ivanka to discuss climate change at Trump Tower. Ivanka reportedly wants to make climate change her signature issue. Gore:
I had a lengthy and very productive session with the President-elect. It was a sincere search for areas of common ground. I had a meeting beforehand with Ivanka Trump. The bulk of the time was with the President-elect, Donald Trump. I found it an extremely interesting conversation, and to be continued, and I’m just going to leave it at that.
