These people sit in there and waited their turn to be shot…That’s sad…that somebody in there with the means of self-defense could have stopped this. And we’d have less funerals than we’re having…Why didn’t somebody just do something? You got one skinny person shooting a gun. We need to do what we can…I know it’s really horrible for nine people to be shot. And I understand he reloaded his gun during in the process. That’s upsetting.
Geomagnetic storm affects radio waves, creates auroras
The NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center indicates that a geomagnetic storm is reaching Earth and potentially will reach a Severe G4 Level resulting from a series of coronal mass ejections from the sun. Forecasters at NASA say that this will be an event lasting multiple days. NASA’s Findings:
The solar activity is the result of the sun releasing a series of coronal mass ejections (CMEs)…huge explosions of magnetic field and plasma from the Sun’s corona. NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory recorded a CME June 18, a second on June 19, and then a third on June 21. Energy from the third CME traveled swiftly enough to join the previous two.

There was a moderately strong blackout of shortwave and low-frequency radio signals over North America and that the Earth’s poles were experiencing a deeper blackout.
The Geophysical Institute of the University of Alaska at Fairbanks Report Forecast:
The aurora could be visible in a long stripe of the U.S. from Alaska into the Pacific Northwest, the Upper Midwest, Great Lakes and New England. Scientists said there was a chance people as far south as Oklahoma City and Raleigh, North Carolina, could get a glimpse of the lights.
Accuses Rose of gambling while playing
Dowd releases documents that prove Rose bet on baseball while an active player, including copies of pages from a notebook from the home of Bertolini during a raid by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service in 1989. The notebook is currently in the National Archives’ New York office, where officials decline requests to release it. Dowd:
This does it. This closes the door…We knew that [Bertolini] recorded the bets, and that he bet himself, but we never had his records. We tried to get them. He refused to give them to us. This is the final piece of the puzzle on a New York betting operation with organized crime. And, of course, [Rose] betting while he was a player. Commissioner Dolezal engaged in conduct that humiliated, insulted or degraded…While working for the commission, she was simultaneously protesting police violence and speaking out about recent police cases involving violence against blacks.

[She] asked questions that were, ‘hostile and accusatory,’ specifically inquiring if all the suspects in the training scenarios were black. When told that the first scenario of training had included only white suspects, she turned her body away from the officers and busied herself with her cellphone.

It’s never a success if you go out losing. But I think we put ourselves back where this franchise needs to be, being a contender.
