Announces end to 10-day isolation period
Sturgeon announces that Covid isolation periods will be reduced from 10 days to seven, so long as people have a negative peak flow result to show for it. This is despite pouring scorn a week earlier on a journalist who had asked whether she would consider this very option.
Nurmagomedov leaves press conference before McGregor shows up
McGregor and Nurmagomedov appear separately at the final press conference in Las Vegas ahead of Saturday night’s fight. Nurmagomedov took the stage at the Park Theater at exactly 3pm for a scheduled news conference with McGregor and UFC president Dana White. Nurmagomedov:
It’s 3pm, this conference is beginning. I don’t need to wait for nobody…Fans is here, media is here, everybody is here… I don’t think about him. I have a schedule… I have to make weight. I have to worry about myself.
Nurmagomedov answered questions for 15 minutes before leaving. White stalled for 10 minutes before McGregor finally arrived to the theater at 3:25pm. He received a standing ovation from the crowd and handed White a bottle of his new signature whiskey. McGregor:
I did not plan this. I tried to get here. I’m only a couple minutes late… He doesn’t want to be around me. He is petrified…There will never be peace here. I always say you should aim for peace but if you can’t aim for peace, aim between the eyes. I’m gonna to aim right between that man’s eyes and this is never over. Never, ever, ever, over.
McGregor vs Nurmagomedov UFC 229 press conference
McGregor and Nurmagomedov meet face-to-face at at Radio City Music Hall in New York City for the first press conference for their UFC 229 fight. With little under than three weeks to go, McGregor yelled at Nurmagomedov, who remained calm and quiet for the duration of the press conference. McGregor spent much of the press conference animated and threatening Nurmagomedov.
I’m going to truly love putting a beating on this little glass-jaw rat…He’s fought absolutely nobody. He’s in over his head. I’m going to pick him apart and absolutely maul him. He’s dead man walking.
Nurmagomedov said he will do his talking in the cage:
He can talk whatever he wants. He’s going to talk, I know. [Oct. 6] is most important when they close the cage doors. [Oct. 6], what are you going to do? I’m going to maul you.
McGregor-Mayweather post-fight press conference
McGregor and Mayweather appear at the post fight press conference. Mayweather introduces McGregor, who comes on stage wearing a Paisley-patterned suit, holding a glass of whiskey in one hand and the bottle in the other. Both fighters share a brief hug.
It was a good fight. Thought I’d smoked him in the early rounds. But I tell you what, you’re one composed individual…Three game changes in the fight. Much respect. You came with it. It was a hell of a fight. I would have liked to see the end of the tenth. I have this patch where I get fatigue…I get a little wobbly…that, I have to work on…You’ve got to take your hat off to Floyd. A hell of a career. Congratulations. It was a bit of fun! The referee did a great job. I thought he finished it a bit early, but I respect his decision.

Mayweather calls McGregor a ‘f-aggot’
Mayweather appears with McGregor at Wembley Arena in London, on the final stop of their world press tour. Unlike the previous venues, the stage is set up as a boxing ring, and has a short Q&A session at the end. After McGregor’s speech Mayweather talks, at one point trying, but failing, to enlist the crowds into singing ‘Happy Birthday’ to McGregor.
I’m a gorilla and I eat fighters like you…This is a quitter. I feel so good. I look so good. 21 years undefeated…This is a microwaved meal. I’m a home cooked meal…We gonna talk about this pussy. You punk. You faggot. You ho. [CMG: You’re dragging it out a bit mate. Sit down and shut the fuck up.]
McGregor: ‘I run boxing’
McGregor and Mayweather appear at Wembley Arena in London, on the final stop of their world press tour. Unlike the previous venues, the stage is set up as a boxing ring. Mayweather wears a tiger-print top with a set of diamond necklaces, while McGregor arrives to The Foggy Dew, wearing a blue suit:
We have six weeks left from the biggest fight in boxing history, and I’m 29 today. I’m in shock. I get to quadruple my net worth with half a fight…He was wearing high heels yesterday. You should have worn them on the first day you stupid baldy twat…
He then rubs Mayweather’s head and pretends to slap it.
This is my first time in a boxing ring…and in six weeks I run boxing. How the fuck did they let me roll up in here. They got greedy. This is my boxing ring. I am boxing.
In the Q&A McGregor is asked about his motivation:
They try and mock me. It motivates me to keep going. To conquer the unconquerable. Four years ago I was fighting in front of 500 people. Now I’m here, about to smoke this fool, and if that doesn’t show you what’s possible, I don’t know what does.

I don’t just smell victory. Do you know what I smell? I smell a bitch. This bitch didn’t quit once. This bitch didn’t quite twice. This bitch quite three times.
He then brings out a bag and starts throwing money across the stage. [CMG: They’re all ones!]
This ain’t shit but a circus clown. And a pussy. I ain’t never quit.
When McGregor says, ‘Take them high heels off’ there appears to be a scuffle between members of both teams.
He’s the con artist. Real fighters don’t quit…This is my ho and I threw one dollar bills on this bitch…Dana White’s pimpin’ this bitch.

McGregor: Do they not know I’m half black?
McGregor and Mayweather appear together on the third date of their world press tour at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY. McGregor enters to The Foggy Dew, wearing sunglasses, with no shirt and patterned trousers, under a white fur coat. He starts his speech with:
50 cents a bitch. You and 50 are two fake money bitches. He’s bankrupt and you soon will be.
He then gives Mayweather a copy of Jay-Z’s 4:44 and says Mayweather should follow his example in building an empire. Then McGregor addresses those who have said his comments are racist.
Let’s address the race. A lot of the media seem to be saying I’m against black people. That’s absolutely f-cking ridiculous. Do they not know I’m half black? I’m half black from the bellybutton down.
He then talks about the coat:
The coat’s Polar Bear. I’m a cold c-nt. Someone come up here and stop me walking around this place like I own it. I don’t give a f-ck how hot it is outside, I’m wearing this shit.
Well…that settles it? 😱 #MayMacWorldTour pic.twitter.com/Rv5UxWKcoW

McGregor, Mayweather trade insults at Toronto Press Tour show
Appearing at Budweiser Stage, Toronto, on the second date of their World Press Tour, McGregor takes to the stage first, wearing a tailored light blue suit. Mayweather follows wearing a black TMT Canada flag T-shirt. After a brief face-off the two fighters are supposed to take their seats, but they keep shouting at each other. When it is time for his speech McGregor hits the microphone and leads the crowd to chant ‘Fuck the Mayweathers!’
He won’t do shit. Do f-ckin’ nothing. Fuck Showtime too. [To Showtime Sports CEO, Stephen Espinoza] You little Weasel. You’re a f-cking bitch…When Floyd was 28 he was on Oscar De la Hoya’s undercard. Floyd is an old, weak bitch. 50 strippers on the payroll this man has. What’s he doing with that strip club? Shout out to all the stripper bitches on the payroll. At least Rob Kardashian only had one; he has 50.
A word to all the pundit pussies. You’re f-cking crazy if you think this man has a chance. His head is too small. I’ll bounce his head off the canvas and dribble that shit. he’s never fought a day in his life, he’s a runner. He’s boxings biggest bitch.
What the f-ck is he wearing? He looks like a little breakdancer. 12-year-old. He’s 40! You’re 40 years of age. What are you doing carrying a schoolbag on stage? You can’t even read.
Mayweather starts with his Hard Work chant.
One thing we do know. The f-cking fans can’t fight for you…We’re not talking about being at the top for 1 year, 2 years, 3 years, 4 years. Motherf-cker, 21 years. I can’t read but I make money. [CMG: You owe money]
Then he opens his backpack.
We gonna show you what the boss looks like. If you believe in yourself what you say you do bet your whole fight check you bitch. [CMG: No f-cking problem. Send the fu-cking contract…You know I like you [CMG: You love me]. And you all got the f-cking nerve to believe in a fighter who’s a quitter. I don’t quit. I don’t fold under pressure. I’m the best, and I know I’m the best.
Mayweather takes an Irish flag from a fan and walks around in it, prompting McGregor to grab the backpack.
There’s only about five grand in here!
Mayweather gives the flag to McGregor, who throws it at him. They then face off for a minute before leaving the stage.
Mayweather: ‘You will go out on your face or your back’
After meeting McGregor for the first time onstage at the Staples Center, Mayweather gives his speech:
Hard work! Hard work! I still got it…21 is the number, and they say, ‘Why is 21 a number?’ ‘Cos that’s how long I’ve been kickin’ ass. I don’t give a f-ck if it’s the ring. I don’t care if it’s an octagon. Put me there and I’ll be kicking ass. You put ’em up and I’m gonna knock ’em down like bowling pins.
Mayweather then opens a backpack and pulls out $100 million check.
Let’s we show you motherf-ckers what a $100m fighter looks like. [CMG: That’s for the taxman] You’re right I’m from the IRS and I’m gonna tax your ass…We knew I was the A-side that’s why this bitch has to come to the boxing ring. He look good for a seven figure fighter. I’m a nine-figure fighter.
We talking about from the 90s to now. We talking about World Champion 18 years. And you know what? If you want eight-ounce gloves on, you put four-ounce gloves on. Don’t fool the public. And we know Mr Tap-Out like to quit. And you will wave that white flag. I guarantee you go out on your face or on your back.
You can do whatever you want to do. But God don’t make mistakes. And God only made one thing perfect, and that’s my boxing record.
McGregor: ‘I don’t fear him’
After meeting Mayweather for the first time onstage at the Staples Center, McGregor gives a speech:
Baby we did it! I couldn’t hear anything them motherf-ckers said. I’m absolutely honored to be here with the fans. Somebody’s oh has got to go. He’s in a f-cking track suit. He can’t even afford a suit any more. The Rolls is a 2012 outside. He is f-cked. There’s no other way about it. His little legs, his little core. I’m gonna knock him out inside four rounds…I’m a young happy, content, man that has worked extremely hard for this. I can do what the f-ck I want up here. I’m just enjoying myself. The movement, the power. He’s not experienced this. I don’t fear him. I don’t fear his limited set of fighting rules. This is half a fight, a quarter of a fight. if this was a true fight this would only take one round.
I’ve got my own line of suits coming out. If you zoom in you’ll see it says ‘f-ck you’ on the pinstripes.
[My son] is the perfect inspiration for me to do this. What more motivation can you need? No-one’s done this before. Let’s get this world tour started. Let’s have fun.
McGregor and Mayweather face off
Mayweather vs. McGregor conference call
White and Mayweather’s management team talk to journalists on a conference call. White says that McGregor will face a legal penalty if he uses MMA techniques in the ring. He also says that the financial details are confidential. White:
McGregor told me today: The McGregor clan has been taking over villages for 300 years and the Mayweather village is next.
Johnson wants McGregor money fight
At the post fight press conference Johnson jokes about his preferred next match up, and talks about money fights in UFC.
[My next fight] would be Chael Sonnen, because he’d sell the hell out of that pay-per-view. You said pick a name and I did — there you go…Nowadays, everybody’s talking about big-money fights, right? … I am not afraid of one man in this whole UFC Octagon roster. I truly don’t care. What’s going to happen to me? I lose? I get knocked out? A lot of people are coming … ‘Ooh, fight him, he’s scared’ … I’m like, ‘Dude. I will f-cking fight Conor McGregor for the biggest payday of my life. If I got knocked out, perfect. Thanks, Conor. You weigh 170 pounds, but guess what? I’m going to be laughing all the way to the bank. But if you ask me who would I like to fight, and I know I’m going to make the most money, I’ll fight Conor McGregor.
Aldo follows McGregor’s trash-talking style
At a press conference for his upcoming fight against Holloway in UFC 212, Aldo says he is now willing to trash talk his opponents.
I think that this rivalry [with Holloway] is great because it sells more and gives us money. We’re going through a new generation now that is completely different than when I started in the sport. When I started, athletes fought for honor, respect, philosophy. Today, it’s not a real fighter. It’s this joke. If you don’t talk, you fight for nothing, you’ll be left behind…Rankings mean nothing, you have to talk trash. What drives this [sport] today is money, and that’s super normal to me now. I made a lot of money [against McGregor], and I’m thinking about it now. I think about continuing being champion and having my honor and respect, but it’s not worth being the good guy anymore.
Talks about 90-day rehab
Gomez speaks at a Netflix press event about her 90-day stint in rehab. She also draws parallels between the series she’s working on and her life.
I think that my high school experience may have been a little amplified, so I wouldn’t say it was worse, but it definitely made it harder. To be frank with you, I actually was going through a really difficult time when they started production…I went away for 90 days, and I actually met tons of kids in this place that we’re talking about the issues that these characters [in the series 13 Reasons Why] are experiencing. I would say yes, I have to deal with it on a different scale, whether it was just kids or growing up in the biggest high school of the world, which was Disney Channel. It was also adults that had the audacity to tell me how to live my life. It was very confusing for me, it was so confusing. I had no idea who I was going to be…It’s hard right now. I can’t stand social media, I can’t stand what they’re looking at. I can’t stand what they think is reality, and the show is real as it could possibly get…I want them to understand it. I would do anything to be able to have a good influence on this generation, but I definitely relate to everything that was going on [in the show]. I was there for the last episode, and I was a mess just seeing it all come to life because I’ve experienced that.
