Weigh-in0 Comments

McGregor weighs-in at 153 pounds, one pound under weight, and 3.5 pounds heavier than Mayweather.

He looks like dogsh*t. Blown up. Full of water. That’s the worst shape I’ve ever seen him. I’m gonna breeze through. 153! I’m a professional. I make weight…I put in the work, as everyone can tell… I’ll be a lot bigger [when I get into the ring]. [I’ll be] 170. You can’t beat us.  We roll in and we take over. Las Vegas is Ireland now…I won’t go nowhere other than the center of the ring. So let’s see who can take it. He’s over there twiddling his thumbs…I see a man afraid.

Mayweather weighs in at 149.5 pounds

Weigh-in0 Comments

Mayweather weighs in at 149.5 pounds, 4.5 pounds underweight.

I’ve been here before. I know what it takes. He did a lot of [talking] but tomorrow it comes down to the fighters. Weight doesn’t win fights. Fighting wins fights…It won’t go the distance. Mark my words…I just want to thank the fans. The will become the greatest last fight also…The fans can’t fight for you. It comes down to the two competitors. 49 times I went out there it was one on one.

McGregor on Mayweather race comments: ‘Look, what’s his history?’

Makes Statement0 Comments

After Mayweather talks about McGregor’s comments on race:

It’s all about treating people like you want to be treated. To get respect, you must give respect. He totally disrespected black women, he called black people monkeys and then he spoke disrespectfully to my daughter’s mother and he spoke disrespectfully to my daughter. I’m not going to stoop that low and speak about his child.

McGregor counters:

He’s talking about disrespecting women and all, you know what I mean? I mean, hold the f**king phone here. Look, what’s his history? And I didn’t bring that up before the tour and I didn’t need to and I didn’t want to…There’s a gentlemen’s agreement on some things, you know what I mean? But hey, it’s a ruthless business. So, I’ve been ruthless too. You know what I mean? So it’s what we expect.

SNL McGregor news skit

Skit0 Comments

Saturday Night Live takes on the McGregor-Mayweather fight in a news skit.

I am going to drive Mayweather out of the ring, the way St. Patrick drove all the snakes out of Ireland: piss drunk, while screaming something about Jesus. All it’s going to take me to win is one punch!..I’m going to fight the Irish way, get me arse beat down, and then just get back up, and wander into the pub like nothing happened.

Malignaggi: McGregor controversy ‘was planned’

Makes Statement0 Comments

Malignaggi says he believes the controversy over his ‘pushdown’ photo was planned

I think it was planned,. When I looked back [at what happened], I realized that everything was probably planned from the start. I talked bad about Conor six months ago, I wanted to get the fight, but that happens a lot among boxers. We talk, we try to get the fight. So, when he called me, I thought, Conor already talked bad about me, but since we won’t fight it’s like, hey, we’re friendly to each other, we hug each other — it’s business. If you fight, you fight. If you don’t fight, you understand that it’s [been] business. So, I’m thinking, I’ve been through this before, I’m going to [join the] camp and we’re going to be cool…For me, I wasn’t mad at anything but I started seeing things, and I started getting mad. This guy is doing things on purpose […]. One day, he made me come to the gym at 3:30. We’re supposed to box at 9. I show up at 3:30, no boxing. And I can’t work out because before, Conor has to work out, and I can’t watch him work out. So why do I have to come to the gym at 3:30 [if] we’re supposed to box at 9!? Just to tell me I can’t work out […]? I cannot do this every day for three weeks.

He predicts a ‘dirty’ fight:

I see Conor being very dirty in the beginning [to have Mayweather] confused. A mixed martial artist, when he gets close, what does he do? He grabs you. I was boxing [McGregor on the inside]. He doesn’t know how to fight inside […]. Outside, Floyd is too good. Inside, Conor doesn’t know how to fight, so what is he going to do? After a few rounds, he’s going to realize he’s dead — just like with Nate Diaz.

McGregor mocks Mayweather’s ‘I hope the referee keeps it fair’ comment

Makes Statement0 Comments

After Mayweather, during his press conference with McGregor, says:

I hope the referee keeps it fair.

McGregor responds:

All I heard was, ‘Please, ref, keep me safe.’ I may make him beg me to follow the rules here. I believe he’ll be unconscious within one round. … I don’t see him surviving. I’ll flatten him. … After that, I’m starting to think I’ll toy with him.

Malignaggi faces off with McGregor: ‘Did you bring your balls, Conor?’

Makes Statement0 Comments

McGregor and Malignaggi confront each other outside the McGregor-Mayweather press conference. Malignaggi:

Did you bring your balls, Conor?

McGregor:

I saw him, and I said, ‘What are you afraid of a faceoff today?’ He didn’t say anything, and the big ghouls he surrounds himself with started pushing and shoving, and then it was a pushing and shoving contest. … He can’t walk around the place without being surrounded by these donkeys, [but] look, he’s in the ring on his own. I’m already the true king of fighting. I’ll be the king of boxing now, also.

McGregor: ‘I’m determined to stun Floyd Mayweather for my son’

Makes Statement0 Comments

McGregor says that fatherhood has made him more ruthless.

Fatherhood is such an amazing thing, because it made me just realise what’s important. If anything, I feel the pressure is off my shoulders even more so. It’s been beautiful and an eye-opening experience. As a fighter [I’m] a little more ruthless maybe, a little bit more certain and a little bit more dangerous — if I am being honest — because there is another one I am fighting for.

Ferguson: McGregor has improved as a boxer

Makes Statement0 Comments

Ferguson says he took the fight against Kevin Lee because he felt that winning an interim title would force the hand of the lightweight champ Conor McGregor and put him into the pole position to fight for the undisputed belt when the Irishman returns from his foray into the world of boxing after August 26th.

As far as what Conor is at, if he does ‘MayMac’ and he wins or loses it doesn’t matter, he’s going to have to defend his belt against the person that has the interim title. It’s defend or vacate. I mean that’s what makes sense to me because that’s the way the rules have always went. You have to fight the one who has the title, to unify the titles. If I’m going to have an interim title, I want to fight Conor…If he wants the trilogy with Nate he has to drop the belt. He can’t hold onto the belt and do all of that other stuff. He did it for a whole entire year, you had your kid, that’s great, now let’s fight…I’ve moved on from calling him ‘McNuggets’ because his game has gotten a little bit better. His boxing has gotten better. When he throws punches he has learned to block his face a little bit better. He’s got his sh*t together as far as his hands.
