McGregor and Drake share a hug before the fighter’s press conference in Toronto with Mayweather. At the event, Drake introduces both fighters:
Listen, I’m gonna be honest. I came here to witness history with each and every one of you. The biggest fight in the history of fighting. And of course they had to come to the greatest city in the world to do a press conference. So, whether it is Floyd Money Mayweather, or whether it is the Notorious Conor McGregor. I just want to welcome these two fighters to the great city of Toronto. Let’s get into the shit!

This is what being the youngest and the greatest at the same time looks like! It was an honour to watch this man perform last night! @champagnepapi much love and respect my brother, you are an ANIMAL! Thank you for the hospitality! #TheRevengeTour
Drake presents Rihanna with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award at the MTV Music Video Awards. She performs 13 of the biggest hits in her 13-year career, including Rude Girl, Diamonds, and Only Girl in the World. Drake:
She’s someone I’ve been in love with since I was 22 years old. She’s one of my best friends in the world. All my adult life, I’ve looked up to her even though she’s younger than me.
Drake releases Back to Back, a second diss track against Mill. The track release is part of an ongoing feud between the two artists. In the track, Drake emasculates Mill for serving as the opening act for his girlfriend Nicki Minaj’s tour:
You love her then you gotta give the world to her / Is that a world tour or your girl’s tour?/ I know that you gotta be a thug for her / This ain’t what she meant when she told you to open up more
Drake also takes aim at Mill’s decision to beef through social media:
Trigger fingers turn to Twitter fingers / You’re getting bodied by a singing n*gga
Drake releases Charged Up, a diss track aimed at Meek Mill. The track is in response to Mill’s recent comments, which accused Drake of using a ghostwriter for his songs. The song mostly consists of Drake freestyling over a subdued beat. While the song doesn’t address Mill by name, it is undoubtedly aimed at him:
Wow, I’m honored that you think this is staged / I’m flattered man, in fact I’m amazed / The perfect start to the summer man, this shit is a doozy / This sh*t is twistin’ the movie, but don’t jump to any conclusions / You boys aren’t getting’ any of your feelins on me / You should embrace it this could be one of our realest moments / OK, the flow’s startin’ to feel familiar, don’t it? / Must I remind you that Jimmy got twenty million on it.
In a series of Twitter posts, Mill accuses Drake of being a fake. Mill claims that Drake doesn’t write his own lyrics and employs a ghostwriter. Drake recently featured on Mill’s album Dreams Worth More Than Money. However, Mill was upset when Drake didn’t promote the album through social media.
Stop comparing drake to me too…. He don’t write his own raps! That’s why he ain’t tweet my album because we found out! Don’t compare me to none of the cats that don’t write they own raps either…… Lol. He ain’t even write that verse on my album and if I woulda knew I woulda took it off my album….. I don’t trick my fans! Lol
Drake performs and closes at Coachella in his first performance as headliner of the three day festival. At 10:40, he opens his set with a monologue, while he smokes and drinks onstage. Brown responds to Karrueche’s post on Instagram following their break up with an Instagram post of his own, claiming she dated Drake while he was in jail.
We’ve got scars, some of them u gave me, some of them I’ve caused. That ride or die act we have been fooling the world with obviously ain’t working. I was locked up for damn near 4 months and only got 1 visit from you while u was hosting parties and taking secret trips to Toronto, going on dates with Drake! When this relationship first started u knew what it was and even participated in threesomes. I slowed all that shit down. So let’s not try to save face for public opinion because I don’t need to play victim so people can take my side. All these celebrity n—as ain’t s–t and focus only on themselves. I made it clear to the world who my girl was and made your life equal to mine even at the cost of me not focusing on my career at times. So miss me wit the bulls–t. No y’all know the real.

Drake gives his thoughts on his new album Nothing Was The Same:
I think I’ve found a way to successfully blend my melodic side and my rap side. I think that’s why it comes off a bit tougher, because there are no ballads on there like the last album. There’s not really any down moments, even when I’m singing – I chose to take a more aggressive stance while in production and during recording. It’s not tougher in a way where you are going to hear a bunch of gun and drug raps; it’s just a bit tougher in the sense that it’s got an energy coursing through it, and I’m really excited about that.
Seacrest interviews Drake during On Air With Ryan Seacrest about his raper image.
I’m a good kid, I don’t do drugs, I don’t get into trouble like that. I’ve never brought trouble into my mother’s house and I’ve never really brought that much trouble into my career. Sometimes trouble finds me and I can’t help that, but for the most part I try to stay very pure and that’s my mother’s doing.

They reached out and she said she really wanted me to do something on her project. But she wanted me to do me, not do an Alicia Keys record. And man, she gave me one of the best studio experiences of my life.I came in there and instead of being like, ‘Here’s the beat, get to work,’ she was just like, ‘Play me your favorite songs and lets battle.’ It’s almost like the transition from [listening to] great music to making a song – like, no one even noticed it, because she started playing the keys and I just started writing the melodies.
