The McGregor Effect trailer
Collider Productions releases the trailer for the documentary, The McGregor Effect, which will be released on August 20. It includes narrations from fans who have been inspired by McGregor, such as Thomas Nolan, who was inspired to lose a huge amount of weight and become a personal trainer.

Mayweather: McGregor’s switch strategy won’t work
At his Media Scrum, Mayweather says he has been keeping a close eye on McGregor’s preparations for their fight, and says he already know McGregor’s game plan, and says it won’t work against him.
It’s about doing your homework. It’s not really just watching fight tapes. It’s knowing the person that you’re facing across the ring from you…That’s called doing your due diligence and your homework on your opponent. Not just watching film and fight tapes…Even right now. I know what Conor McGregor is down to. He’s down. I think he was a little bit heavy. I think he’s at 160 now, so he’s down. Yeah, I mean I know what’s going on.
McGregor, he’s going to come out, and he’s going to keep switching. I already know what he’s going to do. He’s going to come out southpaw, then he’s going to switch the other way. But when you keep switching, all you’re going to do is burn energy.

Mayweather-McGregor undercard announced
Showtime and Mayweather Promotions announce three bouts for the Aug. 26 boxing event from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, including a pair of title fights. In a WBA light heavyweight title match, champion Nathan Cleverly will defend his belt against Badou Jack, a former WBC super middleweight champion who is stepping up in weight. Cleverly:

Hardy to commentate McGregor-Mayweather for Sky Sports
Hardy, a former UFC welterweight contender, is named by Sky Sports as part of the UK and Ireland commentating team for the McGregor-Mayweather bout.
This will be the first boxing match that I’ve worked on. Obviously I’ve worked a lot with boxers in the past. I’ve trained alongside boxers because back in the day with mixed martial arts, they were the only real combat athletes around me that knew what they were doing. As soon as it becomes a mixed martial arts fight, (boxers) become interested. There have been questions that have come from (boxers) in the past that will prepare me for this, I think. I understand the boxing mentality and I understand what they’re going to be looking at as far as Conor McGregor as a new addition to the sport.

Sky Sports announces it has beaten BT Sports for the rights to broadcast the McGregor-Mayweather fight on August 26, live on pay-per-view. Ahead of the fight, Sky Sports viewers will be able to enjoy a range of support programming across both TV channels and digital platforms, in addition to all the pre-fight build up from behind the scene. The cost of the event will be £19.95 for UK customers; €24.95 for those in Ireland, across all forms of booking up until midnight Friday 25 August. In an echo of the McGregor-Mayweather fight, two dwarves are set to fight in Las Vegas’ Hustler Club, on August 5. It’s rumoured that the fight will last a total of 3 rounds and ‘Mini Mayweather’ is currently the favourite as he previously fought Mini Pacquiao.
Frampton fight cancelled after Gutierrez shower slip
The Frampton-Gutierrez fight is called off after Gutierrez slips in the shower on the eve of the bout. Gutierrez suffers facial cuts, bruising to the head and breaks two teeth in the accident. Frampton had weighed in a pound over the featherweight limit, which meant the contest would not have been a WBC title eliminator for him. Frampton’s manager, McGuigan:
We’re all so disappointed. It was a freak accident. He slipped in the shower, smashed his face, the guy is concussed. He has a deep gash on his chin, his nose, lost two of his teeth.
