Chris Cuomo interview

Cuomo interviews Trump on CNN about his call for a ban on Muslim immigration. Cuomo:

You’re acting out of fear, not making us look strong, and rejecting what America is all about.

Trump:

You’re going to have many more World Trade Centers if you don’t solve it — many, many more and probably beyond the World Trade Center…They want our buildings to come down; they want our cities to be crushed. They are living within our country. And many of them want to come from outside our country…We can close our eyes. We can put the blinders on, but I don’t choose to do that…I have common sense. I know what has to be done, and we don’t want to have a situation like Paris. And we don’t want to have another World Trade Center…We need a certain toughness in this country or we’re going to end up like a lot of the other places and we’re not going to have a country left.

Trump also says that Roosevelt had instituted similar programs:

If you look at FDR, ’cause I watched Jeffrey Lord this morning, and I thought he was fantastic, by the way. If you look at him, the presidential proclamations 2525, 2526 and 2527 — that was very, very stringent.

Alex Jones interview

Trump is interviewed by Jones on The Alex Jones Show. On the New Jersey 0/11 celebrations:

People have called in, and on twitter @realDonald Trump, they’re all tweeting. I know what happened and I held my line. People wanted me to apologize, and we can’t do that. People like you and I can’t do that so easily. Now, we can do it if we are wrong. You apologize, I’d apologize if I was wrong.

On Clinton:

Clinton, she’s so corrupt, she’s so corrupt and she shouldn’t be allowed to run and frankly her greatest legacy – she was a horrible Secretary of State – …will be getting out of the email scandal. That’s what I think – it’ll be one of the greatest jobs I’ve ever seen of getting out of a scandal because General Petraeus and many others have been destroyed for doing five percent of what she did. She shouldn’t be allowed to run, but you know the recent Fox poll that just came down two days ago has me beating her head-to-head, which is very interesting, very good and beating her handily and soundly, but we have to get it right.

Re/code interview

In an interview with Re/code, Carter talks about SMASHDLabs.

On the artist side, we made a significant investment in very young artists from the very beginning of their careers and helped them become global superstars. So, on the entrepreneurs’ side, the idea of the labs was to be able to create this ecosystem to help them from the very beginning, to see them through from development and hopefully until they become large companies.

He also says that the accelerator companies had access to entrepreneurial advice from Marc Cuban, who gave the welcoming address, Sophia Amoruso of retail site Nasty Gal, Jason Calacanis, Def Jam Records co-founder Russell Simmons, Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda, Upfront Ventures’ Mark Suster and MediaREDEF Chief Executive Jason Hirschhorn.

We had a wide array of incredible entrepreneurs and investors that came in to speak to the group. The head of growth for Snapchat, he probably spent five days with our companies. That’s significant.

Trump. Melania and his children, are interviewed by Walters for 20/20. Trump, on his earlier marriages:

I’ve gone through tremendous amounts of everything, deals and building companies and taking care of people. It hurts a marriage because you’re working all the time… what I did is I worked so hard that I think it was a very, very hard thing for somebody to compete with.

Melania:

We have great chemistry. To be with a man as my husband is—you need to know who you are… you need to have a very independent life as well and supporting him, you need to be very smart and quick, and be there for him when he needs you.

Says database for Syrian refugees

In an interview with Guilfoyle on On The Record, Trump says any database would be for Syrian refugees. He also says he could not hear the reporter’s questions because the music in the hall was loud and people were calling on him to sign books.

I was really responding to a totally different reporter. I want a watch list. I want a database for the Syrian refugees that Obama is going to let in…because nobody knows where they’re coming from. I hear some are missing. You’re looking what happens in Paris, and all over the place. I want to have watchlists, I want to have surveillance programs. We’re not a bunch of babies. We need protection and we need it now.

Muslim database comments

In response to questions from an NBC reporter Trump talks about a Muslim database.

TRUMP: There should be a lot of systems, beyond a database, we should have a lot of systems. And today you can do it. But right now we have to have a border, we have to have strength, we have to have a wall. And we cannot let what’s happening to this country happen.
REPORTER:  But is it something your White House would like to implement?
TRUMP:  Oh, I would certainly implement that, absolutely.
REPORTER:  What do you think the effect of that would be?  How would that work?
TRUMP:  It would stop people from coming in illegally.  We have to stop people from coming into our country illegally.
TRUMP:  It would be just good management.  What you have to do is good management procedures.  And we can do that.
REPORTER:  Would you go to mosques and sign these people up into the system?
TRUMP:  Different places.  You sign ’em up at different — but it’s all about management.  Our country has no management.

Local newspaper closures ‘blown out of proportion’

Speaking to the House of Commons culture select committee, Highfield says the number of local newspapers closed over the last decade has been “blown out of all proportion”, with most of the 300 being shut not “papers of record” that are vital to most UK communities.

This is something that is often blown out of all proportion. The papers that have been closed were often the freesheets that were opened in the 1990s to mop up low-yielding advertising revenues when the times were good… I think you’ll find the numbers of papers of record that have closed over the last decade is incredibly low. That is something that needs to be understood.

People interview on fatherhood

In an interview with People magazine Diesel talks about fatherhood.

I think kids, when you’re active with your kids, you are bound to somewhat stay in shape, but I don’t know … not to sound crazy, but I don’t know how important that is. That’s not really what the most important thing in life is…When you become a father … any parent, once you have kids, anybody who has kids wakes up every day wanting to be a better parent and that’s your main focus. And you are less vain and less narcissistic and your joy comes from your children and less about you…I just told my son my favorite role in life is being ‘daddy,’ but most people would say that.

HIV positive

Sheen tells Lauer on Today, that he is HIV positive, but he does not have AIDS:

I’m here to admit that I am in fact HIV Positive…It started with what I thought was a series of crushing headaches. I thought I had a brain tumor. I thought it was over. It’s a hard three letters to absorb. It’s a turning point in one’s life…[I had to speak out] to put a stop to this barrage of attacks of sub-truths and very harmful and mercurial stories that threaten the health of so many others…I have a responsibility now to better myself and help a lot of other people.

Sheen also says he has been the victim of years of blackmail, giving millions of dollars in extortion money to prostitutes with whom he had relations in hopes that they would keep his HIV status a secret.

My trust turned to their treason.

He admits having unprotected sex with two individuals, whom he says were warned beforehand and “under the care” of his doctor. He also says he’s no longer doing drugs, but still drinks “a little bit.”

Refugees ‘a Trojan horse,’ would close mosques

On CNBC’s Squawk Box, Trump says that he will not allow Syrian refugees to enter the U.S.

We have no idea who these people are, we are the worst when it comes to paperwork. This could be one of the great Trojan horses. We cannot let them into this country, period. Our country has tremendous problems. We can’t have another problem…As far as Merkel’s concerned, she ought to be ashamed of herself, what she’s done. She blew it, when she allowed this to happen, this migration.

He says later on MSNBC that it’s time to start surveillance of mosques, and said the U.S. should shut some down if they have radical leaders.

Well you’re going to have to watch and study the mosques, because a lot of talk is going on at the mosques. Well I would hate to do it [close mosques] but it’s something you’re going to have to strongly consider. Some of the absolute hatred is coming from these areas. … The hatred is incredible. It’s embedded. The hatred is beyond belief. The hatred is greater than anybody understands. I know so many people, Muslims, who are such unbelievably great people, and they’re being so badly tarnished by what’s happening now, it’s a shame.

Rouhani: Embassies could be restored

Rouhani suggests that the United States and Iran could open embassies in each other’s capitals after decades of mutual hostility, but he says Washington should apologize, without going into further detail.

One day these embassies will re-open but what counts is behavior and the Americans hold the key to this. If they modify their policies, correct errors committed in these 37 years and apologize to the Iranian people, the situation will change and good things can happen.

Says Bieber beef has ended

While on The Ellen Show, Rogen addresses his spat with Bieber.

We had a beef, I guess you would say. I don’t know if that’s the word the kids use. It’s not really a beef — I just called him some really mean things on social media for no real reason. And I only met him very briefly. I finally saw him today in the hallway of your show and I guess we made up, which is fantastic. It’s all my fault. It’s all just cause I decided to be mean one day for no reason whatso ever.

Criticizes Kardashians

In an interview with HuffPost Live, Gunn talks about the Kardashians and Kanye West. On West’s clothing line:

I think they’re a bunch of dumb clothes. Just basic pieces…He won’t [like that comment], but let me tell you, the whole Kardashian clan doesn’t like me, so no surprise there…There are large issues [with the Kardashians] for me, such as why? Why! But when it comes to fashion I say to people all the time, if you want guidance in fashion, just consider this: if a Kardashian is wearing it, don’t… I think it’s vulgar… Given the amount of public exposure that the Kardashians have to potentially be sending the message to people that you too can dress like this, no!

On Kendall Jenner:

I think absolutely nothing [of her] to be perfectly honest. And I’m assuming there’s a huge, perhaps million dollars a month, publicity wagon that is pulling these girls along and creating these lives for them. I’m distrustful of it and I find it all distasteful. [But] I shouldn’t say that she doesn’t [have ‘it’]. I don’t know her — she may be a perfectly lovely young woman. I just feel that she’s tainted by the Kardashian aura of yuck!

Mother’s death inspired movie

In an interview on The Today show, Jolie says By the Sea is inspired by her mother’s death in 2007.

We can’t say what the whole film is about, but a lot of the film was when I went to visit my mom in the hospital, when she found out she had cancer the first time. She was going to have her ovaries removed, [and] was very upset, feeling like…they’re taking out her parts that were female, and there was a woman down the hall who was wailing. I later found out it was a young woman who had not had children yet, and that put everything into perspective.

She also talks about how her mother urged her doctor to take her ovaries removed.

We had some of the same nurses, some of the same doctors. So, the doctor that did my ovary surgery was my mother’s doctor. And apparently my mother had said to her, ‘Promise me you will take Angie’s ovaries out.’ So when we kind of got together, we both had a big cry, and she said, ‘I promised your mother, and I’ve gotta do this.

Fast Company interview

Carter is interviewed by Fast Company. He talks about how to get investor approval:

Do the work. That’s as basic as you can possibly get. You can’t dream your way out of a problem. You can’t just dream your way into the business. You’ve got to actually put rubber on the road and do the work. If your job is to sweep floors, the only way those floors are going to get swept is if you put the broom on the ground. If your job is to code, you need fingers on the keys. So whatever it is you do, you actually have to do the work. You can’t just talk about it. You can’t be philosophical about it. You have to get the physical work in.
