McGregor: I’d go in there to knock Floyd out
During the interview at Devenish nightclub McGregor talks about Mayweather:
If I focus with the work ethic I have solely on the sport of boxing, there’s no telling what I could do. I would not go in there just to show up, I’d go in there to knock [Floyd] out. That’s it. He can be hit, he’s been hit before. Age waits for no man also, so I know they know that. I know the size is on my side, I know the reach is on my side, I know the youth is on my side. There’s a lot to lose for them, so that’s why their scrambling… But that’s okay, I’ll leave them scrambling. I’ve got some other boxing opportunities and potential opponents in mind. Some previous Floyd opponents. They can bring in anyone in the game. We’ll see what happens.
McGregor: ‘I don’t give a f-ck about Floyd!’
McGregor is interviewed at an event in Devenish nightclub in Belfast.
Originally what happened was: Floyd called me out. i don’t give a f-ck about Floyd. I don’t fear no man, under no rule set…and he leaks a rumour that we were going to fight. But it opened my eyes a bit. And I thought, hold on, maybe I can pursue this. Maybe I can pursue the boxing side…We were in the background with negotiations. It’s their move now. Since I got that boxing license, Floyd’s fat manager came out, ‘Floyd’s in the bahamas. He doesn’t care about Conor’. Well I don’t give a f-ck about Floyd either…So I don’t need Floyd. I hold all the numbers. I don’t need Floyd.
Frampton: McGregor can’t beat Mayweather
Frampton says McGregor cannot beat Mayweather.
He’s almost like sticking the fingers up to the UFC. He can say ‘I can do what I want’. I like him. Fair play to him. We don’t know [if he’s the real deal in boxing] yet. Give him a year or so and who knows? He comes from a boxing background…He can obviously punch very hard…I would love to [work out with him]. He’s someone I admire a lot.
Can he hang in there with Mayweather.

Woodley: McGregor’s boxing licence ‘not a bluff’
Woodley says McGregor is not bluffing about boxing.
I don’t know if it’s a punk thing. If it’s something he’s doing, y’know [trying to] show the UFC that he’s the boss. He just ‘relinquished’ his featherweight title, which I don’t think he wanted two belts just to give one up. But, I don’t know what his motives are. For the fans and people who are thinking that this is a bluff, it’s not really a bluff. If Conor decided that ‘I wanna walk and take this $100 million fight with Floyd Mayweather’, no-one, including myself could knock him for doing that. Or [saying] ‘ah, he’s scared to fight’. That’s not really anything…I think [A fight with Mayweather] can be way more interesting than people realise. I can’t just see Floyd Mayweather going out there and just knocking Conor out in the first couple rounds. Conor McGregor, man, he does have some really good timing. If you watch him in his fights, and slow it down a few times. He’s slipping inside, outside. That four piece he hit Eddie Alvarez with, that was one of the slickest combinations I’ve seen in a very long time.

Mayweather: McGregor CA license means nothing
The CEO of Mayweather promotions says McGregor’s newly-acquired California boxing licence means nothing:
He got a boxing license. Congratulations to him. Conor McGregor can say anything he wants to, but he has a boss, and his name is Dana White. He is under contract to the UFC, and if he wanted to fight Floyd Mayweather in a boxing match he can’t because his bosses wouldn’t allow that to happen. They would never — and put this in bold caps — let him step into a boxing ring with Floyd Mayweather, because everyone knows what the outcome would be. He would get his ass beat from pillar to post…. I respect all fighters who step in a ring or the Octagon, but Floyd is in the Bahamas enjoying life. He’s not thinking about Conor McGregor or anyone else…What McGregor is attempting to do is take a page out of Floyd’s book from the marketing and promotional side by using his name. The quickest way to become famous is to align yourself with another famous person, and he’s done a good job of that.
Kavanagh confirms McGregor-Mayweather talks
Coach Kavanagh confirms McGregor and Mayweather are in talks for a potential boxing fight in 2017.
If the odds were good enough, I’d put a few quid on it for next year. I’m not breaking any news saying that there’s conversations going back and forth for the last year or so. Is it getting any close? I don’t know, but it certainly wouldn’t surprise me that it’s going to happen. He’s 49-0. I’m sure he wants that 50th fight. It’s a nice number. Right now, ask the average guy on the street, who do you want to see Mayweather fight, what fight’s going to get the most interest, and it would be a superfight with Conor. Certainly stranger things have happened in combat sports than a Mayweather-Conor fight. I wouldn’t be surprised by it, so who knows? It’s one of the many options that are there for Conor, so let’s see how the next couple of weeks go.
Agent: McGregor ‘very interested’ in Mayweather fight ‘if it’s serious,’
Attar says McGregor is interested in a ‘serious’ fight with Mayweather:
Look, it wasn’t something we started, right? It was something Floyd started and Conor responded in kind on social media. It’s obviously built up public interest. Part of that may have been Floyd testing waters — I really don’t know what his motives are. All I can tell you is we are very interested if it’s serious. Ultimately, I think we have to see if it’s real or not. That’s what it comes down to. Floyd may have been waiting to see if Conor is the real deal and I think how he handled his first adversity with Nate [Diaz], beating Nate the second time at 170 [pounds], dominating the lightweight champion, the first to hold two belts — I think he’s shown he’s for real. I don’t know if Floyd is enjoying the retirement life too much, if it’s a PR stint to keep the fun going of what he has going on in the boxing world,” Attar said. “Ultimately, I think we’ll find out soon enough if [his interest in fighting McGregor] is real or not.
Mayweather Snr: ‘I would put McGregor’s ass to sleep’
Mayweather Senior talks about how much he’d pay McGregor to fight.
I’d give him a penny. That’s a joke right there…If he know what’s good for his ass, he’d better go somewhere and sit down. Messing with the joy boy? No. If they want me to fight him. I’ll fight him. I’ll knock his ass out. If he fight with no feet and stuff that’s a whole different story. My son will whoop his ass anyway. I would put him to sleep. I’d put it on his ass for real.

‘I don’t have to fight’
In answer to a question about whether he would fight Pacquiao again. Mayweather says:
A lot of fighters in the sport of boxing may want to retire, but they have to fight because they have to. I don’t have to fight. I just made $300 million for fighting Pacquiao. I’m OK. Like I said before, I’m happy with my position. Once again, the money don’t make me; I make money. I’m well off. I make smart moves, and like I said before, I’m happy with where my career has went.
When asked about his recent comments where he said he would return to the ring:
Different days, I say different things. Different days, I feel different ways. I feel different each day. Can Floyd Mayweather contradict himself? Absolutely. So that’s why I know when I contradict myself, it doesn’t mean I’m crazy. When someone puts up something I said in the past like, ‘Oh you said this, this day, well you said this, that day,’ I can contradict myself. I’m only human. I’m not perfect. God only made one thing perfect: my boxing record.
Wants $100m to fight ‘afraid’ Mayweather
At a bar 1 OAK in New York City, McGregor takes over the DJ booth, hijacks the mic and calls out Mayweather.
Floyd’s not ready for this. Much respect to Floyd. He’s a solid businessman on what he’s been able to do … he’s a f-cking animal at what he’s been able to do. But as far as real fighting … as far as true pure unarmed combat … Floyd don’t want none of this. He wants a boxing match, he doesn’t want a fight. I want $100 million cash to fight him under boxing rules … he’s afraid of a real fight.
Backs McGregor over Mayweather
White says that McGregor deserves Mayweather’s respect.
Conor McGregor … if he touches you, you go to sleep. Floyd puts people to sleep too, with his fighting style, not with his hands. You know how Floyd knocks people out? When they’re not looking. Watch the Victor Ortiz fight. This kid’s just getting started. This kid’s 28 years old. Floyd can say what he wants about Conor, but even other fighters have to respect him. He’s special. Floyd’s never even come close to doing to other fighters what Conor does.
Responds to Mayweather
McGregor responds to Mayweather’s comments that there is no comparison between them and his description of McGregor as an ‘ant’.

McGregor ‘can figure out Mayweather’
Alvarez’s coach says McGregor could beat Mayweather.
You cannot teach somebody how to hit like that. It takes a certain shoulder, it takes a flick of the wrist, it’s all many tiny mechanics, like what it takes to make an eyeball work. It’s the same thing to make the perfect swing. Like Babe Ruth, I just compare Conor to Babe Ruth man, his swing — we watched tape of it — but to be that close to it was a whole other thing. It comes along once in a lifetime, or once every hundred years, and I think God has just blessed him with a swing that, I know I’ll never see again. Before this fight, I would highly doubt him fighting Mayweather, but man I think this dude can figure out Mayweather. I don’t know if it went [long], but I could easily see him knocking anybody man. Like I said, it’s a Babe Ruth swing, there’s so many things you need to make it work. That four punch combination he used to finish off Eddie, he knew where his head was going to be on all four moves, he knows ahead of time where you’re going to be. What he does is just incredible.

Calls McGregor an ‘ant’
Mayweather says he didn’t watch McGregor fight, and rejects comparisons to the Irish fighter.
I mean if you’re saying he’s the Floyd Mayweather of the MMA, I’m trying to find out. Have you ever made $300 million in one night? Have you ever made $100 million in one night? Have you ever made $70 million in one night?..I’m a legend, a livin’ legend…Never compare Conor McGregor to me. It’s a total disrespect..I’m an elephant. Elephant don’t beef with ants. Elephant is so large he don’t see ants.
Sonnen: McGregor pushing for Mayweather fight
Sonnen says he has been hearing rumors that McGregor is pushing for a Mayweather fight, and that Dana White is open to the idea.
He does have a contract the [UFC]. Ultimately, he will need Dana White to be on board with whatever he wants to do as long as he is under contract with the UFC. Now, what Conor is telling people, and we are only as good as the information we are given, but Conor is telling people privately, he hasn’t gone public with it yet, but he is saying, ‘Look, with a win here tonight, should I beat Eddie, I’m going to take some time off and I’m going to do everything I can to get the boxing match with Floyd Mayweather.’ Allegedly. Now, again, the only person that can sign off on this contractually is Dana White – to come in and co-promote. Allegedly, rumour, Dana White is a little bit more open to the idea – to at least hearing what it is that he wants to do, instead of having a closed door. So, leave the speculation at that. I think there is some legs to it myself.

Mayweather ‘afraid of a fight’
In an interview with The LAD Bible, McGregor says Mayweather is afraid to fight (at 10m50s in video).
Floyd’s afraid of a fight. Floyd doesn’t want the fight. Floyd wants a boxing match. And I’ve already said ‘No problem! Get my f-cking money. And when you get my money then we can box, in this boxing match, under this set of specific rules that will keep you alive. I’m here. Where’s my money? Cos If you keep dropping my name and you don’t have the money I’ll show up at your front door, so we’ll see…I don’t need rules, so I’m open. Right now it’s just talk.

Mayweather: White not a fighter, underpays fighters
After White says that he never thought that there would be a McGregor-Mayweather fight:
They seem to want the money, probably! But I don’t know how bad they actually want to make that a reality…I never thought it was gonna happen. Two totally different sports… Conor’s under contract with me. We can start with kicks, punches and elbows…[Mayweather] doesn’t have to learn to do anything, but he’s going to get kicked and elbowed.
Mayweather responds:
It’s easy for another guy to speak when he’s not in there, in a contact sport. It’s easy to get a tonne of money off these UFC guys while they’re not really getting paid and he’s living better than them. There’s a difference. They can say, ‘ah Floyd, he’s living better than all his fighters.’ Well, guess what, I was a fighter myself so I’ve put in the work on both sides.’

When told that Mayweather said a fight with him is still possible, McGregor responds:
