The artist releases her song, 4 Minutes, from her album, Hard Candy. Madonna co-writes the song with Timberlake, Hills and Timbaland.
I really enjoy writing with Justin. We had psychoanalytic sessions whenever we wrote songs first. We’d sit down and we’d start talking about situations. And then we’d start talking about issues or problems or relationships with people. That was the only way, because you know, writing together with somebody is very intimate. That was fun, because he’s open and he’s got talent. He’s a songwriter. I haven’t worked with a lot of songwriters where I’m instantly connected and start riffing and playing with the rhythm of the words. He’s as interested in the rhythm of the words as the meaning of the words.

Jackson does not speak to Timberlake anymore after their 2004 Super Bowl performance. After her breast was revealed on national television in front of millions, Jackson received a lot of backlash and Timberlake did not come to her defense, as she felt a friend should.

When asked if he advised Spears to divorce her husband Federline, Timberlake stated he never gave her that advice and wishes she comes out on top.
When we initially parted ways I felt like she had a couple of opportunities to just sort of stick up for me, and she didn’t. Which is fine. But at that time, you know, I fought back.
Leaves N’Sync
Timberlake leaves the band to pursue a solo career, after the popular boy band sells over 50 million albums worldwide between 1997 and 2001. In an interview with Oprah Winfrey, Timberlake explains his decision:
I would wake up every morning feeling this more and more of an urge to step out on my own and try my own hand as a musician just by myself… It was hard to say goodbye to that era, but I felt it changing. I felt music changing. And I felt myself changing.

Joins N’Sync
Lou Pearlman, manager of boy band Back Street Boys, recruits Timberlake to join a new band in the making. N’Sync consists of Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Chris Kirkpatrick, Joey Fatone, and Lance Bass – with Timberlake and Chasez as lead singers. The band is put together in Orlando, Florida and launched in Germany.
Mickey Mouse Club
Timberlake is hired for The Mickey Mouse Club, appearing on the programs until it ends two years later. He works alongside other children who also grow up to become celebrities – Ryan Gosling, Brittany Spears, and Christina Aguilera.
Competes on Star Search
At age 11 Timberlake appears on the television talent show Star Search, performing country songs under the stage name Justin Randall. He loses the competition to a 10 year old girl, Anna Nardona.
