Shifts to cage-free eggs

Makes Statement0 Comments

The company says that it will transition 16,000 restaurants in the U.S. and Canada over a period of ten years to eggs that come from chickens that aren’t confined to cages. McDonald’s currently buys about 2.12 billion eggs annually in the U.S. and Canada, including just 13 million cage-free eggs.

Our customers are increasingly interested in knowing more about their food and where it comes from. Our decision to source only cage-free eggs reinforces the focus we place on food quality and our menu to meet and exceed our customers’ expectations.

Invites burger collaboration

Makes Statement0 Comments

Burger King says it will collaborate with multiple companies, including McDonald’s, on the one-day-only pop-up restaurant featuring “The Peace Day Burger.”

Although they [McDonald’s] haven’t yet agreed to come on board our original proposal still stands. McDonald’s take your time. We’re totally at peace with that. Meanwhile, an incredible thing has happened. We’ve received a significant number of unexpected responses from other restaurants, large and small, each expressing an appetite for peace and enthusiasm to help spread the Peace One Day message…Naturally, peace is inclusive to all. So Denny’s, Wayback Burgers, Krystal, and Giraffas, we’d like to build on your individual proposals to collaborate on Peace Day, September 26. Our ide would be that we all come together to create a burger that combines a key ingredient from each of our signature sandwiches.

Proposes McWhopper

Makes Statement0 Comments

Burger King proposes the McWhopper, which  combines elements of the “Big Mac” and “Whopper” burgers to create a new double-decker burger, sold for one day in a franchise jointly run by employees of both companies. Burger King says the promo will promote Peace Day, linked to 21st September, which is The United Nations International Day of Peace. Burger King promotes the idea in full page ads in the New York Times, social media, and a taste test on the TODAY show.

We come in peace. In fact, we come in honor of peace. We know we’ve had our petty differences, but how about we have a ceasefire on these so-called “burger wars”?.. We appreciate that’s a lot to swallow so we’ve put together mcwhopper.com to give you a better understanding of our proposal. Let’s end the beef, with the beef.
