Piper (Roderick George Toombs) is born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada despite being billed from Glasgow, Scotland during his career. After a dispute with his father, Piper leaves home and stays in youth hostels and works odd jobs. He begins playing bagpipes as a young man. He makes his professional wrestling debut at age 15, playing his own entrance music on his bagpipe. The announcer calls him Roddy the Piper which later sticks as his ring name, Roddy Piper.
Inaugural Wrestlemania
The first Wrestlemania is held at Madison Square Garden. The event boasts over 19,000 in attendance and over one million viewers on closed circuit television. The event features Nikolai Volkoff and The Iron Sheik vs The U.S. Express, Wendy Richter vs Leilani Kai and is headlined by Hulk Hogan and Mr. T vs Roddy Piper and Paul Orndorff.
King of the Ring 1986
The second King of the Ring tournament is held. Harley Race overcomes Roddy Piper, Don Muraco, Paul Orndoff and Pedro Morales to claim the crown. Race comments.
In the tournament itself, I had to advance four times. Getting by Morales at the end was something special. He had been World Wrestling Federation Champion. He was the guy who I really wanted to face to make the King of the Ring mean something. I think overall, it did real well.

Wrestlemania 12 is held at the Arrowhead Pond in Anaheim, California. The event features Ultimate Warrior vs Triple H, Steve Austin vs Savio Vega, Undertaker vs Diesel, Roddy Piper vs Goldust and Shawn Michaels vs Bret Hart.
