Will.i.am one day sent me a text message, I was really not famous in America, but because he was spending time in Europe he heard my music and I heard after that he was looking for me. There is a record shop for DJs, called Beatport, he met with them and said ‘Do you know this guy David Guetta and how to reach him?’ So, imagine I am just a European DJ and I receive an email, ‘Hi, this is Will.i.am, do you want to make music for Black Eyed Peas? At the time hip-hop artists working with electronic artists did not exist. It’s kind of weird because I wanted to do this, I had record with kelly Rowland “When Love Takes Over,” and this record with Akon, almost at the same time as “I Got a Feeling.” So, I said ‘That is it, that is what I want to do! I want to create that bridge between urban culture from America and electronic culture from Europe,’ but I had no idea it was going to become this thing of American pop music.
