Spears and Federline originally planned to get married on October 18th but the stress of the paparazzi made the couple want to get married sooner. Their friends and family don’t know they are getting married until minutes before the ceremony.

Spears invites her childhood friend, Jason Alexander, to Las Vegas and, shortly after partying at the Palms Casino hotel, they take a limo and get married at the Little White Wedding Chapel. Spears wears a baseball cap and jeans and allows the hotel bellman to walk her down the aisle. No friends or family attends.
Only 55 hours after the marriage Spears ends the marriage with an annulment which said Spears:
Lacked understanding of her actions to the extent that she was incapable of agreeing to the marriage.
Roberts, Moder marry
Roberts exchanges vows with her cameraman boyfriend Moder during a midnight ceremony at her ranch outside Taos. The bride wears pale pink cotton halter dress embroidered with pearls, antique beads and hand painted with flowers.

O’Brien weds advertising executive Liza Powel in her hometown of Seattle, Washington. The couple met in 2000 during a skit rehearsal for the TV talk show host’s Late Night program and dated for 18 months before deciding to tie the knot. The ceremony is held at St. James Cathedral and officiated by the TV host’s friend and Harvard roommate, Fr. Paul O’Brien. On meeting his bride:

Father remarries
Roof’s father Franklin (known as “Benn”) marries Paige Mann in Florida, when they were living together in Columbia, South Carolina. Dylann is four years old, and his half-sister Amber is 11. Mann:
[I] raised (Franklin’s) kids from a very young age, took them to all of their activities, and Benn’s kids have spent almost every weekend with me. After we moved to Florida our marriage really began to deteriorate when Benn became so controlling…Benn travels a great deal, usually four days a week, so I would always care for and raise his kids.
Mann tries working at Sears but Franklin says he wants her to be a stay-at-home mom, so she quits. Despite her reluctance, he moves the family to the Florida Keys, away from her friends and family.

Mann’s mother writes that her daughter ‘loved Bennett Roof’s other children Amber and Dylann unconditionally as her own’. Dylann stayed with Mann and Franklin far more often than with his own mother, who was supposed to have him every other weekend,
I was afraid that love for these children clouded her judgement in getting involved with Bennett Roof. Paige was there for Amber and Dylann on the occasions where their own (mother) chose not to be, including church, driving Dylann to and from school and extracurricular activities.

A few months after Steel’s divorce from shipping executive John Traina, Perkins and Steel get married. For the wedding Steel buys Perkins a $400,000 Bentley, and a two-day affair is held at her 1913 beaux arts mansion in San Francisco. For the reception, she wears a white Yves Saint Laurent gown with a red satin bow and displays Perkins wedding present, an extravagant diamond and emerald necklace. The wedding cake was baked in the shape of a yacht with the married couple on the bow. They live in a $6 million Marin County mansion and collect antique cars.

Lopez marries Cuban waiter Noa after meeting in Miami. The two have a traditional marriage in Florida with their families before either are recognized celebrities.

Mugabe, Marufu marry
Mugabe marries Grace Marufu in a Catholic mass, in Kutama, 80 kilometres (50 miles) west of Harare. The church wedding has been criticised by some Catholic leaders, who argue Christian doctrines brand polygamy as adultery. President Chissano of Mozambique is best man.
