Financial Times Greek crisis op-ed
Ferguson writes an editorial about the Greek financial crisis in The Financial Times.
Yes, it is quite possible that, in this weekend’s theatre-of-the-absurd referendum, the Greek people may vote “No” to a programme that is no longer available, and that this (despite their prime minister’s protestations to the contrary) may ultimately lead to their departure from the European monetary union. But as recently as the 1970s we would have had to worry about much nastier scenarios. There would have been a real communist left, poised to proclaim the dictatorship of the proletariat. And there would have been a real military right, ready to crush the left by imposing martial law. Neither of these things is now conceivable.
Politically, most of the world has never been more boring. Instead of the alarms and excursions of the past, we now have technocrats versus populists. Any violence is verbal and the technocrats nearly always win. Even in the US, despite what you might glean from television news, the real story of our time is the decline of violence. With their cities far safer than they were in the 1970s and 1980s, Americans can peacefully ponder such questions as: “Can a man become a woman?” (Yes.) And “Can a white woman become a black woman?” (No.) Will a civil war ever be fought over same-sex marriage? It seems unlikely. Does a president risk assassination by reforming healthcare? I think not.
First measles death in 12 years
Health authorities confirm death of a woman due to measles-induced pneumonia, in Clallam County, Washington. The link is not spotted until a post-mortem examination because the woman lacked some common symptoms, such as a rash. The woman had been hospitalised for several health conditions in the spring and was on medication that had weakened her immune system. An autopsy concludes the cause of death is pneumonia due to measles. Washington officials say her death is not linked to Disneyland incident.
This tragic situation illustrates the importance of immunising as many people as possible to provide a high level of community protection against measles.

Free marijuana giveaway
To get around Oregon’s marijuana law’s timing — from July 1st possession for recreational use will be legal, but it cannot be sold until fall of 2016 — the state’s marijuana growers will give away as much as 7 grams plus cannabis seeds to over 21s with ID, at an event on June 30. NORML:
While it becomes legal to possess and cultivate cannabis, there is no legal place in Oregon to buy marijuana itself or cannabis seeds and starts. Portland NORML will educate the public and our partners will give away thousands of seeds and hundreds of pounds of marijuana this year so Washington State and the black market do not benefit from our new marijuana legality.
Event organizers:
This is more than free weed. This is more than vendors, food and vapes. This is history in the making!

Announces pregnancy
Palin announces she is pregnant with her second child.
I’m announcing this news a lot sooner than I ever expected due to the constant trolls who have nothing better to talk about!!! I wanted you guys to be the first to know that I am pregnant. Honestly, I’ve been trying my hardest to keep my chin up on this one. At the end of the day there’s nothing I can’t do with God by my side, and I know I am fully capable of handling anything that is put in front of me with dignity and grace. Life moves on no matter what. So no matter how you feel, you get up, get dressed, show up, and never give up.
When life gets tough, there is no other option but to get tougher. I know this has been, and will be, a huge disappointment to my family, to my close friends, and to many of you. But please respect Tripp’s and my privacy during this time. I do not want any lectures and I do not want any sympathy. My little family always has, and always will come first. Tripp, this new baby, and I will all be fine, because God is merciful.

I want to make it very clear that the state’s attorney’s office did not release the Freddie Gray autopsy report. As I have repeatedly stated, I strongly condemn anyone with access to trial evidence who has leaked information prior to the resolution of this case.
