Josie: I Am Not a ‘Pretty Little Liar’

Writes Article0 Comments

In an anonymous posting to Jezebel, one of Nungesser’s alleged victims tells more about her case and defends herself:

When I filed the complaint against Paul, I didn’t know it would turn into a national event. It was over a year before Emma started carrying that weight, months before what happened at Columbia helped sparked a national dialogue about rape on college campus. I was just trying to do the right thing.

The incident happened my junior year at Columbia, when Paul followed me upstairs at a party, came into a room with me uninvited, closed the door behind us, and grabbed me. I politely said, “Hey, no, come on, let’s go back downstairs.” He didn’t listen. He held me close to him as I said no, and continued to pull me against him. I pushed him off and left the room quickly. I told a few friends and my boyfriend at the time how creepy and weird it was. I tried to find excuses for his behavior. I did a decent job of pushing it out of my mind.

The anonymous student says that when Nungesser was given an appeal, she—having already graduated—withdrew from the process because she felt frustrated with “Columbia’s incompetence’ as the appeals process began.

Carries mattress to graduation

Graduation0 Comments

Ten minutes after Nungesser’s graduation, Sulkowicz walks across Columbia College Class Day stage with her mattress, despite a provision barring large items that was added to administrative guidelines sent by email to seniors the day before the event.

Graduates should not bring into the ceremonial area large objects which could interfere with the proceedings or create discomfort to others in close, crowded spaces shared by thousands of people.

Nungesser’s lawyer says that Columbia’s acceptance of Sulkowicz’s graduation stunt was “absurd” and would help her client’s case.

This goes beyond mere facilitation; they have now granted a special exception

Sex Metal Barbie

DirectsMusic Video0 Comments

In This Moment releases the video for Sex Metal Barbie. Brink:

Directing it was a liberating experience. When you write music that you are very passionate about, being able to bring the visual aspect of it alive with the music is what ties everything together. Sex Metal Barbie is all about rising above hate. I used other people’s hatred to create this song and concepts. I really wanted this video to convey that other people’s perceptions of us are just their own twisted and warped views. I wanted a sarcastic and delusional visual to bring this video alive.

Nine bikers killed in shootout

Fight0 Comments

A shootout among members of several rival motorcycle gangs outside of a Twin Peaks Restaurant in a busy shopping plaza in Waco, Texas, leaves nine bikers dead and nearly two dozen other people with injuries. The incidents starts with a fist fight in the bathroom of the restaurant, which spills into the bar, where it quickly escalates into knife fight — and then out into the parking lot where a gun battle rages between five different biker gangs and heavily armed police. Eight people diee at the scene, and another person died at the hospital. Most of the injured either had stab wounds or gunshot wounds — or both. Two people are taken out of the Waco area because of the severity of the injuries. Police do not identify the groups. No police or bystanders are hurt. Police:

There were multiple people on the scene firing weapons at each other. They then turned on our officers. Our officers returned gunfire, wounding and possibly killing several…There were so many rounds fired from bad-guy weapons here, it is amazing that innocent civilians were not injured here. In 34 years of law enforcement, this is the worst crime scene — the most violent crime scene — that I have ever been involved in. There are dead people still there. There is blood everywhere.
