Angelina Jolie interview

Entertainment Weekly interviews Jolie about how her children reacted to her playing the role of the villain in the film Maleficent.

I told my kids I was playing Maleficent and they went “She’s so scary!” and I said “Let me tell you the real story but you can’t tell anybody” so I put them in the room and I told them the [film’s] story. So this was my test too, like any parent. And the next day, I heard Shiloh getting into a fight with another kid, defending Maleficent. Saying, “You don’t understand her!” They got into a bit of an argument and I thought that’s the reason to do the film. It’s not just that there’s more to people than meets the eye, but that there’s injustice in the world and children get fired up about injustice. [They] want the character they believe in to get up and fight. And when that character makes mistakes — which Maleficent does, and crosses many lines you want them to be angry at her and concerned and confused and in the end, somehow understand something that they didn’t know before.

The Talks interview

Schrager gives an interview to The Talks. He discusses how he went from a lawyer to opening Studio 54.

I was a lawyer for a couple of years, but I won a very big case very quickly and then I think I got bored with it. I didn’t become a lawyer out of love, I became a lawyer because I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do. I think as you are growing up, deciding what you want to do is really the process of elimination rather than gravitating towards something, until you land on what really makes you happy. I realized that when I was driving around Manhattan and saw people waiting in line to get into a nightclub and I thought, “Wow! That is a business I want to get into.”

Shyamalan discusses his career and book, I Got Schooled, about the state of education reform in the United States, in this interview for PBS.

What I did was go around and research and meet with all the experts around the country, and spent my time and resources from our foundation to put on the table all the information. All I wanted to do was put all the information in one place that the experts had proven to see if it made a picture, and to see the picture, and it did. It was the answer that I wanted five years ago.

Wilkinson speaks about designing Superman’s costume for the upcoming movie Batman vs. Superman in an interview with Esquire Magazine.

There was some pressure, although I have to preface it by saying that when the director Zack Snyder asked me to work on Man of Steel, I was already working on another project. So he started off with another costume designer, James Acheson, who developed the suit, and then I came in and finished the development and designed all the other costumes in the film. We were so thrilled to be able to contribute to the look of Superman in the 21st century.

I don’t know if I’m going to want to act anymore. I’m always relieved on the days I don’t have to. I’d rather give parts to other women than be the woman having the parts.
