Livingston is interviewed onstage about Y Combinator companies, approaching Ron Conway, and whether starting a startup has become a trend:
I think it’s steadily increased. There was definitely a spike when Social Network came out [and] Facebook went public…when we started in 2005 it was not a mainstream thing to do.
She says Y Combinator is getting applicants that are further along, and different founder demographics like older people and family teams:
There are definitely people applying to Y Combinator that are much farther along than they used to be … now it’s people doing Series A at the same time as coming to us
On how non-profits can become more efficient:
We’re hoping that the non-profits can learn that if you apply some of the techniques that the startups do like move fast, launch early, listen to your users…some of those things can make the non-profits better

First of all she was really confident when she was speaking to the audience. Second, her stage bond was also amazing, I think we strive to be that together on stage and thirdly, her crew was so friendly and welcoming. So, Taylor taught us a lot.

Survivor is still a social experiment, that’s the question. So we were in casting and we saw we had a group of people that were really smart so just an idea in the room was what if we just put them all together? And then it fell into place because we have two cops and a former NFL player and that became the Brawn tribe and then we always have a model and a cheerleader and that type, so it was brains, brawn, and beauty and the question was: Three different skills you rely on in life, is one more valuable in a social game like Survivor?

Our fans are so loyal to the show. Y’all ride with us no matter what the story line is. Music still drives the show but mainly it’s about still staying and sticking with those characters. You know everybody is crazy about those characters and wants to know how their lives are gonna pan out. You know six of our original cast members were here for season 10 and I think that the audience appreciates that.

If I had known what this season was going to bring. I would have opted out. It was you know unfortunately we are executive producers on our show so we watch our edits and we have to clear and okay a everything and it was hard for me to do it.
